How To Get Job In Singapore?

How To Get Job In Singapore?
I get lots of questions all the time from fresh grads who wish to come to Singapore and start their career.
Most companies wont hire them unless they show sufficient related work experiences . These 'global students' are not looking for big expat packages, in fact they are only looking to be paid like any other local employee. Here are some tips that can help you get your feet into the door of some companies in Singapore.

1. Look for internships at respected firms in your industry. Most local companies are already swamped with interns from the polytechnics and the local universities so you would really need to stand out to be offered a position.

2. Offer to intern for free for a short period, If you believe strongly and have passion for a job in a particular industry you should approach relevant companies if they would accept volunteers , most companies would be glad to accept you but are quite bothered by the visas and other documentation that will be involved. The best period would be 2 months, by then your employer can sufficiently gauge if you would be an asset to the company and offer you a full time position.

3. Attend trade shows and events and speak to people that are currently working at companies which you wish to work for. Do not ask for a job or an internship position at the first chance. Get to know more about the company and see how you would fit in, and if you are interested talk about the possibility of being an intern at that particular company.

4. Post a message on one of the local expat forums , you never know there might be some kind expats out there who would offer you a great position , renumeration might be an issue at first but don't let that hinder you.

5. Last , if all methods fail . Submit your resume to job agencies or internship placement agencies in Singapore and get them to help you with your career.

Job Offer Negotiations

Job Offer Negotiations
You have worked hard at finding your next job. You have come through many obstacles and have reached your career objective. You have received a job offer. You re thrilled. Mission accomplished. After all, what else is left to do?

A majority of job candidates do not negotiate their offer. They are happy just to have received it. They just want to start their new job and start getting paid again. Besides, there's a myth that the process of negotiating could turn the employer off and cause the offer to be rescinded? Does this kind of thinking sound familiar?

Offer negotiations are certainly an optional part of the job search process. You don t have to negotiate. Should you? Absolutely! In fact, when you don t negotiate, negative ramifications can occur. For example, you re in Sales or Customer Support or any other profession that requires a persuasive style. As a final test , an employer may extend to you the position contingent upon how persuasive you are at negotiating the offer. If you don t negotiate, or negotiate poorly, you lose. A runner-up may be offered the position on a similar basis.

Even if you are not in a profession that requires a persuasive style, you should seriously consider engaging in a negotiating process. Employers expect you to negotiate. There is always a higher amount that you can receive over and above the compensation you are initially offered. How much more will be a function of the bargaining chips you have, and the finesse used to negotiate them.

Let s take stock of the bargaining chips you may have: Your educational degrees Being currently employed (assuming you are) Your level of expertise and number of years in the field The salary you currently command Your assessment of your true worth. Depending upon the type of position you are seeking, each of these areas has validity and relevance, and a specific chip value that can be called upon when negotiating. Probably the most esoteric yet most valuable of these is your own assessment of worth.

Your true worth is far greater than your current compensation, or what a salary calculator would reveal. Your worth can be defined by what you bring to the table that is unique and valuable. Look at the skills, strengths, core competencies, marketable assets and accomplishments you can declare as your own. This is what describes your uniqueness. It is what differentiates you from the crowd.

What number would you associate with your worth? If you re having difficulty coming up with a figure, just ask your spouse or best friend how much they think you are worth. You ll probably get a surprisingly high yet fairly accurate number. Let s assume you came up with one million dollars. I know, that doesn t even come close. The point is, can you expect an employer to pay you this amount as your compensation?

For sure, salary negotiations based on your true worth or unique gifts take on a whole new dimension. No, you probably won t be compensated one million dollars; however, with the right blend of negotiating skills and patience, your efforts will be substantially rewarded! I have seen up to forty thousand dollars added to starting compensation through diligent negotiations. It is common for signing bonuses, stipulations calling for substantial six-month performance-based increases, several weeks of additional vacation time, stock options, profit sharing, and more to be added as part of a negotiated package.

Negotiating is an opportunity to get what you truly want, and deserve. It is a way to significantly raise your standard of living and sense of self, simply by taking stock of what you have and then knowing how to use it for your advancement. Remember, what you receive now becomes your benchmark for future positions.

We all have choices. Some people would rather keep things the way they are. That s OK. However, you have worked very hard to come to this point, so why stop short of getting what you truly want, and deserve. Wouldn't you rather be compensated more on the basis of what you re worth than on some arbitrary figure designed to keep the status quo? Go for what you are worth your life will never be the same!

Five Ways To Get The Job Of Your Dreams

Five Ways To Get The Job Of Your Dreams
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Are you frustrated with your current job and ready to either move up or move on? Maybe you feel it's time to look for a new job with higher pay, better benefits, and a lot more job satisfaction. And, quite possibly, you've been downsized, let go, or fired and need a good job fast. Chances are, you've experienced one or all of these situations. You may be looking for a new job now. If so, you can benefit from these five simple tips to help you find and land the job of your dreams.

I learned these strategies during my 25 years as CEO of a large staffing firm. During that time, then later as a career coach, I worked with every kind of person, job, success story, and horror story you can imagine. From those years I gleaned these five top ways to get the kind of work you want.

1. Take ACTION!
Those two short words are the key to the treasure. Most people don't get the job they deserve because they're too overworked, too tired, too discouraged, or not motivated enough to jump up and get their job search going. Don't sit there -- get moving, NOW!

2. Toot your own horn to draw attention to your abilities, ideas, and accomplishments.
This is particularly true for people trying to move up in their current organization. Too often we play down our accomplishments and wind up getting ignored at promotion time. Make sure you tactfully point out your skills, good ideas, and big wins to the boss.

3. Go the extra mile.
If you're looking for a new job, don't simply stop with a resume and a cover letter. Offer to help the employer with ideas via email, make yourself available 24/7 by cell phone, or offer to stop by the employer's office at his or her convenience.

4. Stand OUT from the crowd.
Anything you can do to separate yourself from all the other applicants will put you miles ahead. You might write a different kind of resume, have your application package delivered by singing courier, put your ideas on DVD video, or create a web site specifically to answer questions related to the job you are applying for. Let your imagination go to work on this. Consider the industry you're in, the personality of the boss you're talking to, and what creative strategy could best bring attention to your unusual abilities.

5. Be a leader.
When you work to stand out from the crowd, you look like a leader to employers. Every employer needs people who are self-motivated, who can work well with others, who can solve problems, save money, increase production, and keep going without a lot of maintenance. Take strides to show you're that kind of person, a leader who the employer can rely on to make good things happen.

Use these 5 simple strategies to get the job of your dreams or move up in your current position. By making yourself more visible and drawing attention to your best attributes, you greatly increase your chances of getting the recognition you may have been missing.

How to Increase Your Chance of Promotion at Work

How to Increase Your Chance of Promotion at Work
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Job promotions are not something that happens all of a sudden. Getting promoted is not only about your growth but it is equally proportional to the benefits an organization expects you to deliver for them. In short to expect a promotion one has to prove his abilities and capability as an individual or in other words be an efficient employee.

In order to achieve the status of an efficient employee one must keep the following things in mind:

Ensure that you do your job well within the time and at desired quality levels. Meeting deadlines is one factor that determines you are capable and shows your competence for the role.

Master your job: make sure you know the current job you are on as well as the back of your hand. Be an expert.

Try and keep yourself away from workplace politics and gossips. Having said that, sometimes it can be beneficial to be involved in the workplace politics because it will give you more insight, so the key is to be selective and know when to be involved.

Be a good listener, this will always help you to enhance your working capabilities. This advice is often overlooked, but listening is a key part of any job because it gives you a clear understanding of your role and if you work in a team environment, listening is absolutely essential.

Have a positive approach towards responsibilities delegated on you. Do not avoid it unless you feel you are not able to do it. If this is the case then explain fully to your superior why. Always try and do a bit extra then what you have been asked to do while strictly keeping in mind the work done is acceptable and useful to the company. This is the best method of winning the approval of your manager.

Look presentable: Although it may sound strange that how the way you look has an impact on your working capacities but it definitely changes the way a person perceives you. If the dress code where your work normally represents wearing shirt and tie, do not try to stand out in the crowd by wearing a T-shirt and pair of jeans.

Patience is required in some instances where after meeting all the above points a promotion is not secured, hang on in there. However, be on the look out for more advanced roles in other similar firms instead of waiting an eternity. But, do keep plugging away in the same job in the meantime. There is nothing worse than leaving a job to look for another. You may find yourself unemployed for longer than you envisaged.

Continuously keep upgrading your skill rapid changes in technology and management approaches it's absolutely necessary for an employee to upgrade continuously to enable him to perform well as well as keep his chances for a promotion alive.

Horticultural Jobs Board

Horticultural Jobs Board
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Horticulture and agriculture have often been the poor relations as far as progress is concerned. Take for instance recruitment; it's not so long ago that farmers, nurserymen and garden centres would simply go to the job centre or put a small ad in the local newspaper to get their staff.
Qualifications and/or experience were not always thought to be necessary or even an advantage to gain a job working on the land. Then, back in 1989, specialist horticultural agencies burst on to the scene with a brand new approach to finding staff and suddenly, just like most other industries, Horticulture had dedicated recruitment companies able to source for them qualified and experienced staff.
Almost overnight the industry was revolutionised and progressive companies were able to utilise and build on this new fund of expertise for the benefit of the company, the customers and the industry in general.

Now a NEW revolution in recruitment has arrived with the development of a unique and dedicated website where trained horticulturists can seek employment and horticultural companies can advertise their jobs.

The specialist site of www.bloominggoodjobs.com claims to be the ideal middle ground between recruitment agencies and advertising in trade journals.
Blooming Good Jobs is staffed by a subtle mix of IT professionals, horticulturists and recruitment consultants bringing together a blend of skills that makes this an unbeatable combination to further your horticultural career or find that ideal next member of staff.

"We have spent the last 18 months building up a database and mailing list of thousands of horticultural professionals - meaning that every job will be immediately seen by a highly specific audience of suitably qualified and experienced candidates." Said Gee Hazleton, marketing director of Blooming Good Jobs. "Candidates can see the job details and instantly apply on line. They will also be emailed with every relevant vacancy. They do not need to register their details and the whole operation is both quick and free."

Whilst there are a number of companies offering a similar service as part of their websites; www.bloominggoodjobs.com is the first specialist website in the UK to bring together all of the necessary experience and expertise and offer such a complete package for Garden Centres, Nurseries, Florists, Landscapers and farmers.

Behavioral Interview Techniques

Behavioral Interview Techniques
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Below are some behavioral interview techniques that you'll find useful:

1. Be prepared for the interview by analyzing and making an educated guess as to which skills are most desired by the employer. You can study the job description of the position or go to some job boards to review requirement sections of related jobs.

2. Compile a list of skills that are relevant to the position you are applying.

3. Identify behavioral interview questions by introductory phases like "Tell me about a time when...," " Describe a situation where you...," "Give me an example of..." etc.

4. Listen carefully to each question. If necessary, rephrase the question and ask for clarification.

5. Use STAR formula to answer behavioral interview question. STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action and Result. Make sure that your answers are detailed and specific. This behavioral interview technique is widely recommended by career advisors.

6. Use your real-life examples instead of your opinions or theoretical statements. The employers want to know what you have done in the past, not what you think you would do in the future.

7. Vary the length of your answers. You can prepare short description of each situation but be ready to give details if asked. You can also determine if you have given enough information by asking questions like, "Would you like more details on that?" "Would you like another example?".

8. Be honest. It will be bad for you if the interviewer find out that your story is built on weak foundation.

Discover the Hidden Power of Self Motivation

Discover the Hidden Power of Self Motivation
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Many studies have been done to research the effects of motivation and mental health. As the implications of helping those with negative self-esteem, depression and anxiety are immense this is certainly an area of research that deserves a great deal of attention.

Psychology Online reports on a study investigating the differences between INTERNAL and EXTERNAL MOTIVATION. The report states that "Although our society is largely extrinsically-motivated by external rewards such as money, fame and power, research has indicated those who are intrinsically-motivated by inner desires for creativity, fulfillment and inner satisfaction are psychologically healthier and happier."

How can this help you?

The study of health psychology seeks to understand how our ability to cope with stress can help us to prevent illness and promote health. Some of these coping mechanisms are naturally inborn but may be taught to those who lack them. Motivation is one of the tools that researchers are trying to use as a combatant of negative stress reactions.

Motivation is something that we use every day. It's what enables us to survive - to get food because we're hungry, to go to work to pay the bills or to educate ourselves in order to pursue a higher goal in life.

How we respond to life's demands can affect our overall health. How are you classified?

The same report on Psychology Online identified those who respond to life with negativity or anxiety as most likely to deal with the physical affects of anger, guilt, nervousness, frustration and fear. These emotions can cause hypertension and high blood pressure which can lead to heart attack or stroke. Other complications include ulcers, arthritis, asthma and kidney disease. Some therapists suggest that by using positive self-talk and trying to restructure the WAY we look at events can offset the physical and mental effects of dealing with negative or stressful events in life.

Interestingly, people who tend to focus on themselves as the controller of their fate - in fact 'self-motivated' - are more likely to feel a sense of control when stressors affect them. Instead of blaming something or someone else they have the motivation to deal with a problem and look for a reasonable solution. This positive behavior helps them to achieve goals and find personal contentment.

Therapists try to teach patients how to emulate this positive reaction to stress and use their motivation as a source of empowerment. Learning to manage stress and using motivation to set goals, work through a problem or fix it can in turn promote better mental and physical health. What Being "Overqualified" Really Means

What Being "Overqualified" Really Means
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - If you've been working for a while, chances are you've found yourself in an interview with someone who tells you you're "overqualified." Interviews are quite a nerve-wracking situation and at first it sounds like a compliment. But if you're like most people, you're left bewildered, wondering what the interviewer meant. Today we're going to address this as a response to a question from one of our subscribers.

Question From A Subscriber:
I've enjoyed your articles very much and have used some of the information in my job search successfully. However, I have two pressing questions I want to ask. What is a job seeker to do when they are told repeatedly in interviews they are allegedly over-qualified? I have been on interviews for positions that are almost exactly like the one I was laid-off from recently.
However, interviewers flat out tell me that although I have impressive and desirable credentials, they feel I'm over-qualified.

My second concern pertains to compensation. In the rare events that I haven't been "over-qualified", I have managed to avoid discussing this taboo, yet all-important topic since this is what really drives companies to hire a particular candidate. In the unfortunate event the topic comes up before getting an offer, I have given a "range" as to what I'd expect based on area living standards, what such a position fetches for in the industry as a whole, and obviously my credentials.
I have tried various tactics from selling myself extremely short all the way up to "no way in hell" for pay ranges, but regardless, I get the form letter saying thanks for interviewing, but keep looking for a job. It's a catch-22 here it seems. On one hand I'm over-qualified, but when I'm not, I apparently ask for too much money even if I just state a reasonable range and justify my given range. Am I over-simplifying this or is there something else going on here that I'm unaware of? -J.H.

J.H., Thanks for your email and for the compliments!

It sounds like when employers say you're overqualified, they're looking at your qualifications and realizing that they'd have to pay you a salary that's on the high-end of the salary range. And it sounds like you're expecting that high-end salary yourself.

I think in a good economy, employers can afford to hire "overqualified" individuals. Sometimes, if the job market is tight - as it was a few years ago - employers might have no choice because the less expensive and less qualified people are all working elsewhere.

I'm not sure what kind of work you do so it's difficult to get into the particulars.

One option would be to go for a job with a lower salary. By now, you probably know the types of companies and positions that are not willing to pay for your qualifications. You could go into interviews with these companies and explain before they even start asking you questions that you really want to work for their firm and you're willing to work for a salary on the low end of the range.

By preemptively addressing the salary question, you make it clear that you're not expecting a higher salary. This will make the employer more comfortable with the idea of offering you the position and help alleviate their concerns that you would jump ship as soon as a sweeter offer comes along.
Another approach to getting a job with a lower salary would be to remove some of the qualifications from your resume. You don't want to lie on your resume, but you can legitimately omit certain facts. For example, if you graduated Phi Beta Kappa or Magna Cum Laude, you are not obligated to list that on your resume.

If you want to get a job with a higher salary, you might want to try working for a different type of company. There is often a difference in salary between jobs that are in the company's "line of business" versus support/staff jobs.

For example, an accountant working for a corporation to help maintain their books and records or do their taxes, would be working in a staff job that the company would view as an expense or cost center. Companies work hard to minimize their costs (and therefore salaries) in cost center departments.

That same accountant might be able to get a job at an accounting firm like KPMG Peat Marwick, whose primary business is accounting, at a higher salary because their time is being billed out to clients.

Even if you're not working in accounting, there are many types of professional positions where their consulting counterparts pay more than the staff jobs inside corporations. The downside to consulting jobs is they often require more hours and can be more stressful because of the demands by the clients.

If you've been working for a large company, you may be able to get a higher salary by working at a small business. Small businesses often pay higher salaries because they don't offer as many of the intangible benefits as the larger firms - such as after-work company events, a company cafeteria, and the prestige that comes with working for a well-known firm.

However, the difference between what businesses of different sizes pay narrows when there's high unemployment because the small businesses don't have to work as hard to attract people that might otherwise work for larger companies.

One place to go to research different industries and possibly map out a plan for transitioning to a different type of company that might be in a better position to pay you more for your work is the Vault Reports web site. Vault surveys people working at all sorts of companies about the pay, work environment, etc. and makes reports available on their web site. For more information about Vault or to visit their site, go to this web address: http://www.jobsearchinfo.com/vault.htm

Another way to find out about the best places to work to maximize your salary is to network with other people in your profession and talk to leaders in your local professional association. If you don't know a lot of people in your profession, you can attend networking events to meet them.
Here is a brief (but not exhaustive) list of places to go to find networking events: - Technology Executives Networking Group (TENG) - For Technology Executives. Website: www.theteng.org - Financial Executives Networking Group (FENG) - For Finance Executives (CFOs, Controllers, etc.). Website: www.thefeng.org - ExecuNet - General networking for executives making $100,000+. Website: www.execunet.com - Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) - Website: www.ieee.org - Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) - For I.T. Professionals & Computer Scientists. Website: www.acm.org - Crain's Business Publications - Publisher of Crain's New York Business, Crain's Detroit Business, Crain's Chicago Business, et. al.

These publications list local networking events in these major cities. Website: www.crain.com - If you don't know if there's an association for your profession and/or industry, one way to find out is through the American Society of Association Executives' web site. They have a search engine to let you search through all of the professional and trade associations in the U.S. Get to it by going to www.asaenet.org and clicking "Directories" on the home page.

Once you know the type of company you want to work for, the next step is to start generating leads, which then leads to interviews. We have several tools listed on our website that are effective in generating job leads.

Pindah Kerja?

Pindah Kerja?

Selamat menempati kantor baru.(hwc/nhk)

Dunia Usaha Peluang Karir Selain PNS

Dunia Usaha Peluang Karir Selain PNS

Perusahaan Wajib Lapor Lowongan Kerja

Perusahaan Wajib Lapor Lowongan Kerja

(hpz)

Dissatisfied With Your Job? Stop Putting Your Attention on What

Dissatisfied With Your Job? Stop Putting Your Attention on What
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - If I were to ask you the percentage of time you spend thinking about what you don t want, what would it be? And the percentage of time thinking about what you do want?

Experience with my clients has shown me that most of us spend a lot more time thinking about what we don t want. Some examples when it comes to our job include:
qI hate my commute. qI am not challenged at my job. qI wish I didn t have to travel so much. qI miss my family. qI have no energy. qI don t get paid enough. And the list goes on and on. By the end of the day we have spent on average 70-80% of the day thinking about things we don t want.

Now, what happens when we put our attention on things? They usually come to pass right? Have you ever been really clear on something you wanted, thought about it, took action to get it and finally got it? Well the same works for the things you don t want. The more attention you put on them, the more you get of them. If you want to get out of work that doesn t satisfy you and find work that does, then you will need to take your attention off of the things that keep you dissatisfied and put it on what you think will satisfy you.

The best way to do that?

Turn your don t wants into do wants - The list above is all about things you don t want, simply flip them into things you do:

qI hate my commute becomes, I want a short commute. qI am not challenged at my job becomes, I want a job that challenges me. qI wish I didn t have to travel so much becomes I want a job where I don t have to travel so much. qI miss my family becomes, I want a job that has better work life balance. qI have no energy becomes, I want a job that gives me energy. qI don t get paid enough becomes, I want a job that pays me what I think I m worth.

By doing this you are starting to create a picture of where you want to go next. Now you will start to get thoughts, ideas, circumstances people and events that will support what you want. Thinking about your don t wants just invites more of the same. Client experience has also shown that as soon as you start to put your attention on what you do want, you inevitably start saying one word more often than not BUT .

A sure fire way to stay where you are is to put your attention on what you don t want and when you do think about what you do want, negate it immediately with but . I want a short commute, but I ll never find the job I want close to home. You know what? You re right because you won t take another step to find it.

Eliminate but from your vocabulary when it comes to putting your attention on what you want. Simply replace it with, I will need to .

- I want a short commute, but I will never find the job I want close to home becomes I want a short commute. I will need to search for a job I want closer to home.

When you use the word but you hit a wall. You don t take another step because you don t see another step. When you replace it with, I will need to now you have a project, a next step. If you really want to create work that satisfies you, then start putting your attention on what you do want and stop using the word but .

Taking these two simple steps will get you moving and into a career that really satisfies you faster then you can say, but I ll never find a career that really satisfies me.

Is your Curriculum Vitae Helping You to Move Forward... or

Is your Curriculum Vitae Helping You to Move Forward... or
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - A strong Curriculum Vitae is essential if you want to get ahead. Having worked in executive recruitment during the 1980s and 1990s, I became fascinated by the first impression people chose to make. I saw time and again that the individuals who invested their effort into making a first class CV presentation were the ones who secured the most interesting and best paid jobs.
Traditional CV writing styles and techniques have become obsolete and the rules have changed, those "in the know" reap the benefits.

Writing your Curriculum Vitae or CV can be a nightmare. What should it include - what can you leave out - what order should it all go in - why is it so difficult to get the format looking good. Keeping it updated can often be an unwelcome chore when time is precious; the free Curriculum Vitae template packages available out there are more often than not pretty well impossible to adapt yourself and provide no useful guidance about how to describe your experience and tailor them for specific job requirements so that your CV will appeal to professional recruiters and give you the advantage you want. Choosing the right structure for your CV is essential, first of all the CV you use to introduce yourself to prospective employers should be just two pages long. Thousands and thousands of CV's go straight in the bin simply because they are too long.

There are two basic structures for the information in your CV, the chronological or functional approach. Recruiters occasionally talk about a hybrid CV - a CV that uses a mixture of both approaches; another description for the hybrid might be "a CV that lacks a logical structure and is often difficult to read".
When writing your CV plan what deserves prominence and what messages you want or need to get across. With 20 years experience and having reviewed tens of thousands of CV's I know that Curriculum Vitae content is usually totally inadequate, providing either far too much detail or not nearly enough!

The first page of your Curriculum Vitae will determine the response you get - if the content does not grab the recruiter's attention it is very unlikely they will read on. Starting your CV with a summary can be an excellent way of catching the reader's attention. Here you can highlight your 'key selling points' and generally set the scene for all that follows.

Alternatively for technical specialists, professionals and academics, qualifications are often a critical component of the recruitment criteria and so you may want to give this priority. Things that should be left out in particular are for example details of 'reasons for leaving', do not mention that you were 'head hunted', you may have been flattered but from a prospective employer's point of view the head hunter persuaded you to leave your employment - and may do again.

Hobbies and interests should only be detailed when they say something positive about you that is not apparent from your career history. Hobbies such as reading swimming, TV and restaurants etc are not going to add much; describing high risk interests such as parachuting, diving with sharks or sword swallowing may influence the reader not to interview you.

How to Close Your Interview and Leave a Lasting Positive

How to Close Your Interview and Leave a Lasting Positive
Closing the Interview
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Knowing how to successfully close an interview can make the difference between getting the job and being one of the unfortunate individuals who receives a rejection letter in the mail. While much attention is given to the matters of how to write a resume and cover letter as well as what to expect in regards to interview questions, far too many job seekers are unprepared when comes to knowing how to successfully close an interview.
Keep in mind that this is perhaps your last opportunity to demonstrate why you are perfect for the job. Successfully closing an interview walks a fine line between being too aggressive and not being aggressive enough.

It s always a good idea to bring along some questions that you can ask the interviewer at the end of the interview. This shows that you have more than just a passing interest in the position and truly want the job. If you have taken the time to do your research on the company, this also demonstrates initiative and increases your chances of being hired.

Once all questions have been asked and answered, it is quite appropriate to ask the interviewer when they anticipate making a hiring decision as well as what the next step in the interviewing or hiring process will be.
Make a point to ask the employer for a business card so that you can have readily available contact information for following up with the employer in the days to come. This will also make it much easier for you to mail the all important interview thank-you letter as soon as you return home.

Also don t forget to shake hands with the employer and summarize how your skills and experience, as well as ambition and desire, make you the perfect candidate for the position. If you re really confident and don t mind taking risks, you might ask So, is there anything stopping you from offering me the job right now?

This ploy should only be used if you feel the interview has gone well, however. Otherwise you might be setting yourself, as well as the interviewer, up for an embarrassing response. A much milder version of this tactic would be, Is there anything else I can answer for you to make a hiring decision? If you really aren t sure how well the interview went and don t want to waste your time waiting for a call that may never come, you could simply ask, Have I done well enough to advance to the next level of the hiring process?

This puts all the cards on the table and an employer who appreciates honesty and frankness will reciprocate by letting you know where you stand. If for some reason, you were not the candidate the employer was looking for this may give you a golden opportunity to clear up something that might make you the ideal candidate. Otherwise, at the very least, you won t be spending the next two weeks waiting by the phone and you can begin concentrating on other employment prospects.

In the event that the employer does not offer you a firm commitment and seems to be a bit hesitant about when a firm decision will be made, don t take it as a personal affront.
There could be any number of reasons why the employer is reluctant to hire you on the spot-the least of which could be the need to consult with superiors. It s important that even if you are disappointed about not receiving a job offer on the spot that you remain positive, up beat and confident. Finally, take the time to thank the employer for meeting with you. Above all, remember to always be professional no matter what happens.

Interview Questions For You To Ask Employers

Interview Questions For You To Ask Employers
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Interviewing is a two-way street. Obviously, the organization is using the interview process to evaluate you and your credentials to determine if you are a solid fit for the company's needs. But the interview is equally important for the opportunity it affords you to evaluate how well the company and the position match what you are seeking.
Formulating a series of well-thought out questions in advance of the interview will not only help you draw out pertinent information form the interviewer, but also demonstrate your intelligence and sincere interest in the position at hand.

The best questions are those that arise from the initial research you will conduct of the organization while preparing for the interview. Whenever possible, questions should be tailored to the position and company. The following questions will provide you with some ideas and get you started thinking about potential interview questions you may want to consider asking employers during the interview.

- Measures for Success

What are your expectations for new employee hires within their first 90 days on the job? Within the first six months?
How and when will my job performance be evaluated?
What metrics are used to measure whether or not you are achieving your predetermined goals?

It's The Job Hunting Season

It's The Job Hunting Season
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - As spring breezes in it brings a foreshadow of summer and job hunters begin to polish their skills. That s right, it s job-hunting season. Graduating seniors are hopefully anticipating life after a diploma and students in progress will be looking for experience and something to fill those three months of classroom freedom. Looking for jobs in school s off-season has been known to be a job in itself. It can be very difficult to land a job in the summer because of the competition there is to face. However, year-round workers may be asking for more time off in the summer. The work is out there; it just takes time and effort to find it.

If you haven t started already, now would be a good time to begin collecting applications or sending out resumes. Apply to more than just a few places; your odds will naturally increase.
Be sure to include jobs that you may have career interest in. If you are interested in contracting or engineering, look for a construction job. If you are interested in exercise science or fitness, look for a lifeguarding job. Experience will give you an advantage down the road. Begin networking with family and friends; it is often luck and who you know that will land you a job. Do not be afraid to tell people you are looking for a job.

Submit your applications and resume as early as April and no later than mid-May. If you begin to look for a summer job at the end of May or the beginning of June your job hunt becomes more difficult and you might end up with no job at all. One area that may still be hiring is agriculture; as crops get ready for harvesting these positions will pick up. Another option fast food. It is not very popular, but it is consistently hiring.
Remember to be flexible and creative, you will not find the perfect job at this point in your career.

Here are some tips to begin working on for a successful job hunt:

Career Seekers:

Prepare a cover letter that can be tailored to specific positions. Prepare a one-page resume outlining your education, any work experience, and skill. Prepare a portfolio compiling examples of your work specific to the job you re applying for. Prepare a thank-you letter for your interviewer that can be tailored to specific positions. Make a list of possible job opportunities or interests. Make a list of contacts for networking.
Set up industry specific on-line job search agents. Begin sending out your cover letter and resume to as many places as possible. Be persistent, if they don t call you then you should call them. Showing initiative will make you stand out from the crowd. Be confident.

Summer Job Seekers:

Begin your job search early and keep in contact with them. Apply to as many places as you can. It is not such a bad thing to turn a job down. If possible, look for jobs that you would be able to return to on weekends or breaks. Network with family and friends. Stand out by being persistent. If you really want a job then show it!
Show excitement and personality when picking up and dropping off an application. Be confident when coming in for an interview. Shake their hand, look them in the eye, and use your best manners. Send a thank-you letter no more than a week later.

If your job hunt is unsuccessful, use your time wisely by taking classes, interning or volunteering. Both of these alternatives will help you with your job search in the long run.
Experience can be just as valuable as a paycheck. Use this time to learn. Most importantly of all, do not lose hope. Envision yourself employed someday. There is a solution to every problem and job hunting is not an exception. Happy Hunting!
