You May Be a Workaholic if You....

You May Be a Workaholic if You....
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - We usually write about improving your resume, making an impression at the interview, and landing the perfect job. However, this week s topic is about the dangers of overdoing it. We all want to have a great career and a satisfying life, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. There s nothing wrong with taking pride in your work and putting extra time into your job. But if the extra focus you put on work is having a negative effect on how much you can enjoy life, you could be a workaholic!

I work hard, but am I a workaholic?
Just because you work hard, it doesn t mean you re a workaholic. If you love your job and enjoy the time you spend working, there s nothing wrong with that. But if your commitment to your job is coming at the expense of other important things in your life, you may want to look for ways to regain some balance.

Here are some things to look out for:

1. You find yourself canceling things in your schedule that aren t work related.

2. You bring your work everywhere, and it s always on your mind. You sometimes stay awake worrying about work the next day.

3. When you get out to social functions or get together with family and friends, you find yourself talking about work more than anything else.

Don t get me wrong. Your career is and should always be a large part of your adult life. Your career is part of your identity and who you are as a person, but it shouldn t be the only part of who you are.
Remember that you re working in order to live a comfortable life. If you don t have time for a life outside of work, you re not truly living! Especially if you re working in order to provide a better life for your family, spending time with them too will keep you motivated at work and make you more productive in both aspects of your life.

How you can help yourself?

If you think you may be a workaholic, there are practical ways to improve your quality of life. Here are a few ideas you can use right away:

1. Take care of yourself. Workaholics are notorious for neglecting their health. You may not realize it, but your health is worth a million dollars! Think of how much money you d have to pay to get a heart transplant, or for other major surgeries to repair your body. When you add it all up, you ll see you can t afford not to take care of yourself. Eating right and getting exercise are essential. Being healthy should be your first priority always, because without your health, nothing else matters.

2. Another idea is to plan how much work you will do in one day and stick to it. That way you ll be less likely to go overboard because you don t know where to draw the line.

3. Reserve the time for friends and family. Whether it s Saturday and Sunday or Wednesday and Thursday, use your time off to spend time with your loved ones. Make a pact with yourself that your time off will only be spent with the ones you care about most- that means no co-workers!

4. Last but not least, always make time for yourself. Take up a hobby if you don t have one already. There needs to be a time where you spend time appreciating you. Whether you like to hit the gym, play a sport, or curl up with a great book, there needs to be some you time.
No matter what goes on at work, you need to have something to look forward to at the end of the week. Even if it s just taking a bubble bath or renting your favorite DVD, I guarantee it will make a difference. ***

Are You Working on Your Masterpiece?

Are You Working on Your Masterpiece?
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Have you ever thought about your career or the work you do as art...as a form of personal creative expression? We can easily summon an image of the painter, sculptor, musician, writer or inventor in their studio, engaged in the wonderful process of creating a masterpiece.

Try applying this analogy to you and the work you do. Your career...past, present and future is a canvas upon which you are painting, a block of stone upon which you are chiselling. The work you do, the life you lead, are the works of art that you create. Imagine that pursuit of excellence in the artist we summoned to our imagination.

Are you working purposefully on YOUR masterpiece...on something that matters to you, something that requires total engagement and all of your faculties, something that brings alive your values and imagination, something that requires your absolute best work, something that will survive beyond today's work day?

It is very easy to lose sight of the big picture (pun intended) in the day-to-day survival and busyness of our lives. Who has time for this kind of thing?
Well, if this idea resonates at all with you, you can easily find justification in the following: working at this kind of level makes you more attractive to the market (who doesn't like working with committed, engaged individuals) and more interesting at cocktail parties. It could awaken a sense of purpose you have been missing. It could make you happier. It could be part of your legacy. Heck, find your own reason.

The Oxford Dictionary defines it as "an outstanding piece of artistry or workmanship" and "a person's best work." Let me mold the concept for our purposes:

1. Your masterpiece is whatever you say it is, as long as it represents your BEST work. You are the judge. Ultimately, only you know if you gave your all. *Your masterpiece can be a thing that you produce with a start and finish. Or, it can be the steady, elegant service you provide, or work you do, day-in, day-out.

2. Achieving international acclaim is a wonderful thing. But the absence of it does not take away from what you have done. If you can gaze at what you have done with pride, knowing that you gave / are giving it your all, then that is masterwork.

3. For some people, their life's work is focused on one thing. For some of us it is less focused. Perhaps, think itty-bitty masterpieces vs. grand masterpiece.

4. Some people embody this ideal in how they live their lives...and that's really cool.

You get the picture. So, what are you working on?***

One Cover Letter Secret You Can't Afford To Miss

One Cover Letter Secret You Can't Afford To Miss
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Suppose you were the hiring manager, your desk piled high with cover letters and resumes to sort through. Which of the following cover letter greetings would grab your attention?

Example 1:
Dear Sirs: Dear Sir/Madam: Dear Gentlemen: To whom it may concern:

Example 2:
Dear Manager: Dear HR Director: Dear Human Resources:

Example 3:
Dear Mrs. Thomas: Dear Mr. Friedman: Dear Sally Williams:

Clearly Example 3 is the best of the bunch because the job-seeker has taken time to find out your name and to spell it correctly.

Consider how you'd feel if you received a cover letter that said Dear Sir or Madam, or worse yet, 'To whom it may concern.' No one will be concerned if you address your cover letter to no one in particular! Remember, there is nothing as sweet to the ear as the sound of ones name. Exercise this simple secret and your cover letter will rise to the top of the pile!

"But I don't know who to address my cover letter to!"

If you don't have this information, take time to get it. Call the company. For jobs posted online this may be a challenge. But still, go the extra mile. Then at the very least address your letter to the appropriate entity. Example: Hiring manager; HR Director; etc.

Secret Tip For Emergency Situations

If the name is unavailable, use one of the greetings in Example #2 and add this personal note.

Please Note: I'm sorry for this impersonal greeting on my cover letter. I was unable to get your name online. However, I look forward to the opportunity to meet you in person so I can address you by name and discuss this job opening. I am highly interested in working for {company name}.

This one-two punch would surely grab someone's attention. You are showing your respect and more important, that you care. This secret tip alone quickly turns a potential negative into a positive that could make the difference between acceptance and rejection.

The bottom line: When you target your cover letter to a specific person by name, you greatly increase your chances of landing the interview, and ultimately the job you desire.

So before you write your next cover letter, ask yourself this essential question: Who, specifically, will be concerned about what I have to say in this cover letter? That person has a name and it sure isn't, "To whom it may concern!"***

Corporate Flight Attendant Job Hunting Tips

Corporate Flight Attendant Job Hunting Tips
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - I will not pretend that this is the easiest topic to write about. In fact, my knowledge of how one finds work as a private flight attendant is based chiefly on what others have shared with me.
You can find some useful tips within the many threads written on the Corporate Flight Attendant Community forum, but to save you from culling through hundreds of threads I will highlight various standout points and include others that have been shared with me over the past several years by industry insiders:

1. Cold calling.
Time honored and time tested this is an important method for finding work and it is also one of the hardest for the majority of people to do. If you do not have the skills to contact strangers you will find an important avenue for securing work omitted. Even the unskilled can accomplish much by attempting this step...practice, practice, practice and you will get the hang of it. You many never feel comfortable doing it, but you accomplish much by trying. Always keep this in mind: every person that you meet is a potential contact for helping you find work; conversely, you may also be able to help someone out too.

2. Attend conferences/meetings.
Attending NBAA related conferences and events will get your name and face out there. Preferably, you would also attend events where a lot of pilots hang out, especially pilots of cabin class jets which include the Global Express, G-V and Falcon Jet 2000. The NBAA's annual conference is a very important venue for networking as well as are their one-day regional conferences.

If you are an NBAA member you get a copy of their directory which lists many companies that fly these very same jets. In addition, membership will give you access to their message boards and other important information on events that they host. How about attending the annual NBAA Flight Attendant Conference?
Yes, it can be an important place to learn more about the industry, attend seminars, and network. Many of the newer folks find it helps them gain a better understanding of private flying, while some veterans will tell you to save your money for the big conferences. Your call: conference fees, hotel and transportation charges can add up significantly. Not many people have the luxury of attending every event.

Local airport events. Is your airport hosting a seminar? Is an important industry leader speaking? Well, why not attend? Sure, aircraft de-icing/anti-icing may not be the most exciting topic, but it is to pilots. Guess what? Some of the same people you want to fly with will be attending.

Guess what? There is usually a social time afterwards. After the recent crashes involving corporate jets you certainly do want to be knowledgeable about industry best practices involving ice. Oh, by the way, have several copies of your r sum with you and copies of your business card to hand out. Yes, get business cards made up and be prepared to share them liberally.

Consider joining your local airport's advisory board, helping out with special community outreach programs, organizing an airport wide event, etc. Anything that you like to do and that helps get your face and name out there is a plus. In this business your name is golden.
Promote it and protect it for all that it is worth! Become an expert self marketer/promoter. The internet. Do Google searches and start reading and bookmarking every page that interests you pertaining to business aviation. The internet has more information then any library and it is updated frequently.

The Corporate Flight Attendant Community [please click the link in the resource box below to be taken there]. This website was created by me to be a resource center for private flight attendants, for those who aspire to become one, and their supporters. I draw upon industry leaders as well as the private flight attendants themselves to communicate what is going on in the industry, particularly from the cabin crewmember's point of view.

Helpful articles, relevant links, catering information, r sum posting, and message boards are some of the more important features of the community. This is truly a niche community one that has gained the attention and respect of many in the industry.

Of particular importance for learning/growing/networking are the message boards. Mostly everyone who participates is already working in the field as a crewmember either full time or on a contract basis. Others are working on the skills they need to enter the industry, while still others offer important help or guidance to the industry. Let me say this: your screen name is your business and I do not reveal who you are if I happen to make the connection between your screen name and true identity.
Many business relationships and friendships have been made between our members because of the message boards. By participating in our Open Chat time or via p.m. [private message] contact you can "meet" our members.

Job sites. There are many sites on the internet listing aviation related jobs. They include: Skyjobs, Plane Jobs, AviaNation, Climb to 350, AEPS, and the Aviation Employment Board. This last community, the Aviation Employment Board [please click on the appropriate link featured in the resource box below] is run by me and is a companion to the Corporate Flight Attendant Community. Naturally, it is my preferred method but some of the other sites are helpful too. Unlike the Aviation Employment Board, most will charge you a monthly fee to register. A big hint: if you do sign up check out the jobs listed on the "pay sites" with the free sites.
See if you notice any difference in jobs listed. If you are a corporate flight attendant, do not expect many jobs to be listed publicly in any case. There just aren't all that many available at any given time and most companies do not want to publicly advertise their openings.

Agencies. AirCareCrews; Integrity Flight Crews, LLC; Jet Professionals, Inc.; J.S. Firm; Turner Services are all some of the names out there associated with providing hiring services. Expect to pay a fee in most cases; do not expect many opportunities. Your call. As one of our message board members has advised: build your own sources. You may find that something works better for you than another person.
Much depends on your own initiative; I find that those individuals who do the most exploring have an easier time finding work. If flying corporate is something that you want, be persistent. Another good trait: be flexible. This includes having a willingness to relocate and being available to work 24/7/365.***

Keeping Fit & Healthy Doesn't Have to Be a Chore

Keeping Fit & Healthy Doesn't Have to Be a Chore
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Some people have fought many years of their lives to preserve the rich heritage of the outdoors and nature we now enjoy. That dedication and effort have been rewarded by fantastic hiking opportunities in our local, state, and national parks systems. In honor of their efforts, let's break out of our winter hibernation and venture into the crisp, clean outdoor air and hit some of those dirt trails.

Here are 4 steps to an enjoyable hike, no matter where your feet decide to take you:

1. Know the area you will be going into.
Although many states, like California, Colorado, or Wyoming have exceptional hiking hot spots, even your local park will have some kind of useful information. Whether it's a website with information and trail details, or a map at the park office, trailhead, or visitor center, always check before you head out on your hike so you know what to expect.

2. Know the conditions you will be facing, wherever you go.
Nothing is worse than traveling to a hiking destination only to miss the hike, because it was raining or freezing and you weren't prepared. If the trail is flooded out, or snowy conditions have shut it down for an extended period, you should be able to find this out as well. It is also good to know if there are any plants or animals to watch out for at your hiking location. Wiping with poison ivy won't feel good in the morning.

3. Wear clothing that works and fits the terrain and hike conditions.
There are many options in your clothing arsenal, to keep yourself comfortable, here are a couple of pointers: - Try and stay away from cotton. Instead, look for synthetic and natural fibers that pull moisture away from your body, or at least stay warm when wet. - Also, go for layers to keep yourself warm, versus carrying around a huge parka, in case you are hit by a freak snowstorm. - The two most important pieces of clothing for any hiker, are good socks and good shoes. Don't underestimate the pain a hike can cause with uncomfortable shoes and socks. Finally, a hat in cold weather is a great addition, since your body loses over half its heat through your head.

4. In addition to knowing the weather conditions, you will need to be prepared with a first aid kit that matches the hiking you will be doing.
In most cases a simple kit will do. You can pick up a simple first aid kit at a local department or sporting goods store. Or you can build you own, which should include these basics: - Different sizes and shapes of bandages and gauzes. - Various types of tape for wounds or fixing tools. - Suntan lotion. - A light emergency blanket (preferably with some kind of water resistance). - Aspirin, allergy, laxative, and anti-diuretic medications. - Small multi-use tool with a knife, scissors, and a needle and thread. - A cell phone can come in very handy in emergencies. It is recommended that you pack all of this in a waterproof bag or container.

These tips should ensure a comfortable, short hiking adventure.

Good luck!***

The Value Of A College Education

The Value Of A College Education
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - It costs a lot to go to college or university and the increasing costs have many wondering if there is real value to a college education. Is the cost of tuition, the time lost to full-time employment, and the thousands of dollars of debt worth the investment? Those are good questions and the answers may lie in a review of the value of a college education and rates of return on investment to both the individual and to society.

On the financial side of the equation there is significant data to suggest that on average and over time a college graduate will earn a great deal more than a high school graduate. The United States Census bureau estimates that over a lifetime a college graduate will earn on average about $2.1 million dollars compared to an average lifetime income of $1.2 million dollars for a high school graduate.

Compared with the cost of attending a four year public university of college at an average of about $10,000 per year and even adding the cost of lost working time, it is clearly of financial value to attend university. But college graduates also enjoy other benefits in addition to the possibility of increased earning power.

In 1998 the Institute for Higher Education Policy published a report that stated that people who completed a college or university program experienced a number of ancillary benefits. They included higher levels of saving, increased personal/professional mobility, improved quality of life for their offspring, better consumer decision making, and more hobbies and leisure activities.

Another report published by the Carnegie Foundation noted some other benefits of higher education that included the tendency for postsecondary students to become more open-minded, more cultured, more rational, more consistent and less authoritarian and that these benefits are also passed along to succeeding generations. A college education can even improve your health and a number of research studies have shown positive correlation between completion of higher education and good health, not only for oneself, but also for one's children.

There is also benefit and value to the public from higher education. According to the Institute for Higher Education these benefits include increased tax revenues, greater workplace productivity, increased consumption, increased workforce flexibility, and decreased reliance on government financial support.

So it appears that even after rigorous scientific review and analysis there is still much value in a college education. But I think we knew that all along.***

What You Should Never Put on Your Resume

What You Should Never Put on Your Resume
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Liars Get Caught! What NOT to Put on Your Resume
"Everybody does it" as they say. Face it, the job market can be a very tough place to compete. If everyone inflates their experience then how can an honest person get a job?

Well, as tempting as it may be, you do NOT want to risk lying on your resume. Whether it's personal information, job experience, or schooling - employers are finding new ways to sniff out liars and you don't want to be one of them.

Personal Information
While some information may not be easily verified, information such as a criminal record, can be very costly to you in the event it is checked out. With sites like rapsheets.com you can never guarantee that an employer won't be able to find the information, even if your employer is hiring you for domestic work and is not a business.

Job Experience
Clearly this is not the place to boast about fake employment as you are going to list the businesses you worked for which may be contacted for verification. As this is the most likely area your interviewer will do a check on, avoid misrepresenting yourself at all costs.

Education
Think that nobody will notice if you slip in an education you don't really have? Perhaps you do have the skills, but you can't afford to claim education you can't provide proof of. EmployAct.com is a new service that will allow employers to have background checks - similar to criminal or credit checks - to verify your claim.

What You Should Have
With all that said and done, how can you create a resume that will highlight your skills and abilities without needing to lie?

Give yourself credit. Your skills in the workforce can be weighty indicators of your ability to work in a given job. You may not know what an employer is looking for. With many jobs that don't require a particular expertise, you many find that they are looking for people who are able to learn on the job. Proof that you have gained skills as a worker (or even a volunteer if you're just starting out) can be very valuable.

Be certain that you focus on skills. Expand your descriptions. Do not say 'I worked in an office', rather say 'I was responsible for answering the phones in a professional manner and directing calls to the proper departments. In a busy work environment I was able to multi-task by providing supportive administrative assistance to the head receptionist including maintaining a filing system, processing inter office memos, delivering documents in a timely manner, directing clients to their meeting appointments and providing relief reception.
I was quickly able to learn the filing and switchboard systems as well as create good working relationships with fellow staff.'

As you can see from the above example, it is perfectly acceptable to elaborate on your skills, but do so in an honest and ethical manner. If you need help you can find software programs which will give you suggestions on wording depending on the position you are describing or you can hire someone who writes resumes to help you. Have confidence in keeping the job you are sure to get by doing it right the first time.***

Reducing Job Search Stress

Reducing Job Search Stress
Stress Busters: Making The Most of Your Job Search
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Life brings us plenty of stress everyday. Don't let the loss of a job increase your stress levels. Whether you're out of work, or on a hunt for a better career, there are ways to reduce the amount of unnecessary stress in the process. When you're ready to look for that new job, make the most of your time and energy by coming up with a plan to keep you focused on your goals.

Be Patient Job searching is a process and it takes time like everything else. It's easy to get frustrated when we don't get results right away, but stay focused. Remind yourself that it may take longer than you think and more importantly, you're worth it. Make realistic goals for yourself every week and reward yourself for achieving them. No matter how much time you're putting into it, you need to take a break. So when you achieve your weekly goal, take some time off to regroup then start again fresh.

You are not your career There is more to you than your 9-5. If you let your job define you, you will end up feeling lost and empty when you don't have one. You are a valuable person and you don't need a career to validate you. It can be very difficult to separate yourself from your career, but it will prove positive if you can. Think of yourself as an already complete person who will be even happier with a satisfying career. Of course there is nothing wrong with maintaining a great career that enhances your life. Nevertheless, it can't be the only thing that makes you you. If you get into a rut and you're feeling really down in the dumps, take some time off.

Job Searching is a full-time job and like every other job, you will need a vacation now and then. Use your time to assess your situation. Figure out how to work smarter-not harder. Take yourself seriously Make smart decisions about ads and occupations that sound like a good match for you. It's never good to put all your eggs in one basket, but make sure you're using your time wisely. Think of your job search as research project. Set up goals, a plan of action, and a deadline in which you should be done with your project.

Have a place to report to everyday. It can get depressing sitting in your house day after day, especially if you're not getting your desired results right away. Find a quiet place like a library where you can use all of your materials and concentrate on your goals.***

Escape The Stress!

Escape The Stress!
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - In the western world, there is one thing common to many work places. Stress. There are many causes and all of us could spend a lot of time and dollars analyzing our life and situations to eliminate stress. What may be far more useful however, is to learn the skills of dealing with every day stress to keep the stress levels within a healthy level. These eight points will help you reduce stress as you go about your daily activity.

1. Lower your expectations and you will suffer less disappointment.
Try seeing everything as already perfect and accept things as they are, then you can strive less and relax more.

2. Learn to say NO.
Next time someone asks you to do something, before the word yes slips out, pause, say you can t give an answer just yet you ll get back to them. This technique gives you time to think. Now you can choose to say NO, calmly, politely and kindly.

3. Do one thing at a time.
SLOW DOWN! If you are racing, so is your heart! Write yourself a list, prioritize your tasks and work through your list methodically. You need to enjoy what you are doing, not just the results of your efforts.

4. Stop trying to fall asleep.
So many people go to bed desperate to fall asleep as quickly as possible, and then suffer the frustration of wakefulness. Quit struggling you need to relax before you can sleep! Be thankful that you are warm, safe and cozy, be glad that your body is resting. Breathe deeply, slowly, gently and listen to your heart beating peacefully.

5. Laugh more!
Get serious an about humor. Laughter is seriously healing. The special chemicals released when we laugh are nature s finest form of natural medicine. When you ve suffered a stressful day, make sure you suffer some serious humor in the evening. Watch a comedy show or film, one you know will produce copious laughter, to counter the stress you ve endured.

6. Treat yourself to a catnap and don t feel guilty.
When your body is pleading for rest, 40 winks works wonders but only if you don t feel guilty about this.

7. Get out in the fresh air!
Drab office, the whir of computer hard drives the drone of your boss s demands. Get outside during your lunch break, find a patch of green, some flowers, even wander around a garden center! Lose yourself in nature and feel your tensions dissipate, for a while at least.

8. Live in the now.
The past is gone, you can t change it. The future is mysterious and seductive, but only with you in your dreams. What you need is with you NOW so make the most of it. Be creative and give everything you ve got to NOW. ***

Mencapai Puncak Karir Dengan Self Marketing

Mencapai Puncak Karir Dengan Self Marketing

(An)***

How To Improve Your Freelance Proofreading Career

How To Improve Your Freelance Proofreading Career
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Did you know that one of the best ways to get the knowledge you need to be an effective proof reader is to take a training course? It will be the best move you ever make.
Courses are not mandatory, but it can be very challenging to find work that is available to those who do not have a proofreading training certification. If you are trying to build your freelance business, it can be difficult to find the time to take a training course.
Who has the time to travel back and forth from college to get this degree or certification? We won t even mention the costs of enrolling into the college either. But proofreading training courses can be done online. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can use a mail based proof reading course as well if you like.

Take classes when you have time. The cost is much less than that of a traditional college. The best part is that if you take the time to find it, you can take the proof reading courses through an accredited college meaning that you are actually getting a college education.

To become a professional proofreader, you must have many skills. It is not a simple job that anyone can do. It does take training and it does take skill and dedication. A proofreading course is a simple step on the way to ensuring a great freelance career.
Because they are readily available, it is easy to find them, easy to get in, and well worth it in the cost department. Establishing yourself as a professional is hard work. It is much easier to get into the field and gain the trust of someone who can later open many more doors for you when you have a certification behind you. It just makes sense to make the time to take the courses and to learn from them so you can excel in your freelance business.***

Job Apprenticeship's The Best Training Available

Job Apprenticeship's The Best Training Available
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - Learning a new, highly skilled profession requires an in-depth, hands-on, committed training experience. This is where the process of apprenticeship occurs. It fills-in the training gap in those places where supervision is needed and provides hands-on help and a solid understanding of how a specific process works.

Apprenticeship is one of the most successful methods any person can use to develop new skills, especially in a highly technical craft. For example, you don't become an electrician by pulling a few wires off your remote control car and hooking them up to the light switch in your house. Instead, you apprentice under an electrical expert to learn the most valuable, safest method for working with electricity.

So what is apprenticeship? It generally includes full-time, on-the-job experience where you actually learn to do "a job" while performing the required tasks. In this "hands-on" environment, you are placed under the oversight of a skilled trainer or journey-worker. A big benefit of on-the-job apprenticeship is having an income while you learn. At the same time you can also receive detailed training by taking specific, technical classes that are directly related to your new occupation.

This training is often in-addition to your normal job duties, so be prepared for a large time investment. By focusing heavily on hands-on work experience and detailed classroom study, long term success is the usual result for anyone truly dedicated to their occupation. Apprenticeship programs create some of the most highly-skilled, highly-paid individuals who work at their jobs anywhere in the world.

In fact, this method of training may be the oldest form of learning anywhere. Certainly it was used even by early Americans, including George Washington (surveyor), Benjamin Franklin (printer), and Paul Revere (silversmith). Actually, Congress enacted the National Apprenticeship Act in 1937. They did this to recognize the importance of apprenticeship in developing highly skilled workers in various trades, including manufacturing, public utilities, and construction. Later apprenticeship grew to include fire, police, safety, and other emergency related occupations.

Today, there are hundreds of different occupational apprenticeship programs and categories in and around the United States. Each state oversees and administers the specifics of their own program, but they are federally approved. Once you complete an apprenticeship training program, you will get an apprenticeship certificate which is recognized nationwide.
It is also the credential you will find the most useful and portable within most industries around the country. But apprenticeship isn't for the faint of heart. Even before your job and classroom training, you will have to apply, and you may have to wait until positions and opportunities are available. In fact, some programs may have waiting lists or they may only accept new applicants at specific times throughout the year.

Although apprenticeship is a fantastic occupational learning opportunity, it is not an option to be pursued lightly. Weigh your options and make an educated decision about the time and other commitments, before you jump into an apprenticeship program.***

What's In A Name?

What's In A Name?
(Lowongan Kerja online) - You probably searched for the word resume on your way here, if not then you may have searched for Curriculum Vitae, but what's the difference?

Definition - Curriculum Vitae (CV): - A special type of resume traditionally used within the academic community. Earned degrees, teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, and related activities are featured. Unlike a resume, a CV tends to be longer and more informational than promotional in tone. Note: The CV required in theses and dissertations follows a very specific format.

In the United Kingdom, and many other places, the description Curriculum Vitae applies to any resume type document, it's important to understand that in some countries the terms are interchangeable.

The description above explains that usually the CV is usually used by the academic community, but it is not limited to them.

It is usually focused on teaching and research experience; as such it will have a great deal of specific information relating to specialist subject matter. The amount of detail required usually means that the CV is longer that the resume, but how long? In truth, the ideal resume should be just a single page in length, it's true to say that there are those that use two pages.

The CV is ideally a two page document, no more.

Basically, anyone who uses more than two pages should make a close examination of the content. I do recall a 30 year old man who presented me with a 6 page resume and said "I don't understand why I don't get any interviews, my resume tells them everything they need to know".

Imagine being the HR person who is faced with reading 6 pages to decide if this person matches the job requirements. Where would you file the resume or CV of that length? What's the solution to a long resume or CV? The solution is to change it's format and study the type of job you are applying for, once you have done that you can focus more on what's required and less on what might be interesting.***

Proofreading may seem simple, but the you must be able to read well and also be able to spot spelling mistakes. Simple mistakes can ruin the copy. There are certain words that are often misspelled. Others are typing errors. Some individuals can flip flop word order or even make really grammatical errors. Here are some other common problems to look for.

1. Sentence structure is often a problem. Make sure that the proper wording is used to convey the point being made.

2. Punctuation errors, especially the use of commas, colons, and semi colons, are often made.

3. Look for grammatical errors such as writing the word in the wrong tense or confusing words such as then and than.

Are You the Wrong Person For Your Job?

Are You the Wrong Person For Your Job?
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - In meeting with clients, it s often interesting to see the contrast between their personality profiles and what their current job descriptions involve.
The difference can often be very clear. For example, I met with a client this week who is an accountant for a local country club. He makes what most would consider a very good salary with excellent benefits, yet when we first met, he told me that something was missing. He was growing tired of the lack of challenge and responsibility he had within his organization and longed to start his own business.

After taking the 48 Days Career and Behavior Personality computerized report, it became evident why he wanted a change. The results indicated that my client has a dominant personality and enjoys high levels of responsibility. He is a definite eagle type, who is bold, adventurous, and big picture oriented. His current position asked him to be more of an owl (analytical, predictable, and detailed oriented).

Needless to say, his personality did match that of someone who is destined to be an entrepreneur. We are currently in the process of evaluating several different business models to determine what type business would be the right fit for his unique interests, values, and gifts.

What about your situation? Are you in a job or career that doesn t fit who you are? Recent surveys have shown that most people are dissatisfied with their jobs and would change if they felt they could. The problem is most people think they have trapped themselves into a particular field because of their work history or education. This is simply not the case. Most people aren t working in the field they majored in 10 years after they graduate from college.

So maybe it s time to make that change. For an assessment of your own strengths and abilities.

| Lowongan | Liars Get Caught! What Not to Put on Your Resum

Liars Get Caught! What Not to Put on Your Resume
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - "Everybody does it" as they say.

1. Personal Information
While some information may not be easily verified, information such as a criminal record, can be very costly to you in the event it is checked out. With sites like rapsheets.com you can never guarantee that an employer won't be able to find the information, even if your employer is hiring you for domestic work and is not a business.

2. Job Experience
Clearly this is not the place to boast about fake employment as you are going to list the businesses you worked for which may be contacted for verification. As this is the most likely area your interviewer will do a check on, avoid misrepresenting yourself at all costs.

3. Education
Think that nobody will notice if you slip in an education you don't really have? Perhaps you do have the skills, but you can't afford to claim education you can't provide proof of. EmployAct.com is a new service that will allow employers to have background checks - similar to criminal or credit checks - to verify your claim.

Have confidence in keeping the job you are sure to get by doing it right the first time.

Job Tips For The Frustrated Job Seeker

Job Tips For The Frustrated Job Seeker
(Lowongan Kerja Online) - There is nothing more frustrating and depressing when you are out of work and trying to find a job and your job search is going no where. Don't feel bad, you are not alone and there is a good reason why searching for a new job can be so difficult. There is no doubt the job market has changed. 30 years ago when I applied for my first job I remember answering an ad in the paper, calling and speaking to a real person, going in for the interview, filling out a application, had the interview and was offered the $3.75 and hour shipping job. Things are not that simple today.

Back then there was no voice mail, no email, you mailed in a typed resume, who had a fax at home? You called and talked to a real person. You may of filled out a application but not the dozen forms you need to today. And you never had to prove you were legally allowed to work in the United States. Today if you are looking for a job how to you stand out in the impersonal hiring environment that exists in most companies. If you apply online you are competing against dozens if not hundreds of others.
Competition is stiff for a most jobs and a human may never even see your resume. Are there steps you can follow that will improve your chances? After being unemployed for several months after 3 years of self employment and becoming more depressed and frustrated in not finding a job, I took my job search to a new level which finally paid off in a new job.

I had been self employed for 3 years but after a divorce and starting life over, my self employment was no longer working. I had to bite the bullet and start looking for a job. The first mistake I realized was my resume was not working. I had updated it to reflect my self employment which was not related to my previous career. I was trying to find a position similar to my previous career in the graphics and computer support industry. By starting my work history with my self employment it made it look like I had been out of the industry even longer and my skills even more outdated. I was just shooting myself in the foot. I changed my self employment to reflect my computer skills so while I had been out of the industry for awhile I wasn't out of touch.

Some employers have doubts about people who have been self employed. They think they are going to go back to their own business or worse they only want a job so they can use company resources for their own gain. In my case I was able to explain that I had an opportunity to work at home and spend time with my preschool son, it had been for family reasons. Most employers respect that.

To begin with you really need to take a hard look at your resume. If you have always worked in one area and are applying for a position similar to those you have had in the past then your resume may just need some updating and polish. There are a number of good books and websites on resume writing. If you really need help then a resume service may be money well spent.

How many resumes do you have? There is no reason you can't have several. I was applying for a variety of unrelated positions. I would of looked "over qualified" or my experience would of been too unrelated for the position if I stuck with just one standard resume. I created a "general" resume that listed a variety of skills that could fit any number of non specific jobs. You can have one that is very specific for the industry you are applying for and there is no reason you can't change it to a specific company especially if it will be scanned in and checked for "keywords" Some companies scan for keywords or buzzwords related to the position, their company or industry. Even if you are the most qualified person for that position, if your resume doesn't have those keywords, it will never get seen.

In addition to having a few different resumes you should have it in several different formats also. If you need to mail it in then a nice easy to read printed resume is in order. Same if you will be faxing it in. If you email your resume then your cover letter will be the body of your email and your resume will be attached.
Most employers request it be in a word .doc format or text but you can also use a pdf format. If you have your own website why not post it online with a link in your email. That way if your attachment can't be read they can print it off the internet. For example the link could be http://www.yourwebsite.com/yourresume.html. You should also have a unformatted text only resume for uploading to online job sites.

Be sure to include several ways to contact you. Home phone, cell phone, email. I had the unfortunate luck of having my cell phone and my home phone cut off for non payment within a few days of each other. As luck would have it someone I sent a resume to tried to contact me and couldn't get through. They did send me a email saying they couldn't reach me. I was able to call them and get a interview. Don't leave anything to chance. And if they leave you a message get back to them ASAP while your resume is still on their desk.

When you get a interview, be on time, be prepared, do your research about the company you are interviewing with. You can usually find most everything you need off their company website. Come prepared with extra resumes, helpful if you have to fill out a application. Also have copies of your updated references. It is best to have more than 3. Some companies want professional references including past employers, others want personal references of persons not related to you. Be prepared for both.

Where to find a job? Dig! And keep digging! You may never know where one will show up. In some ways the internet has made job searches easier with a variety of job sites to search. You should probably set up accounts at the large sites like hotjobs and monster which will allow you to post your resume and apply directly to postings Also take a look at sites like indeed.com. They are a search engine of sorts for jobs. They search several jobs sites at once. Saves time from going to each site. Post your resume so employers can find you.

ASK! Don't be afraid to let everyone you know that you are looking for a job. Drop a email to anyone who might know someone who might have a job opening. You might be surprised how many people really do want to help you. Network your pants off! If you don't ask no one can help you. Search everyday. Try and send out at least one resume a day if not more. Pick up the early edition of the Sunday paper. Send out 5-10 at a time. And keep sending them even after you have interviews set up. You can easily fall behind two or three weeks if you stop sending resumes in hopes of that job offer coming through. Nothing better than telling someone, "I'm sorry I accepted another position" Apply for every job you are remotely interested in even if you don't think you are qualified.

Every job listed always has a laundry list of qualifications and requirements. In a perfect world they would find the perfect person that would match every requirement. But employers know that person doesn't exist and they are looking for someone who closely matches and they feel will be a good fit. At the worst you will never hear from them. At the best they will offer you a job or maybe something different within their company. You can always turn it down. Even if it turns out to be something you really don't want to do, it might help you get by for awhile until a better position comes along. Never be afraid to apply to any job!

Most of all don't give up hope, the right job will happen at the right time. Remember to take care of yourself. Go for a walk, get plenty of rest, do something you enjoy just for yourself. As long as you keep moving in a forward direction, if someone asks you what you have been doing to find a job you can proudly say "this is what I have been doing" Persistence will pay off. Good luck.***
