Living a Passionate Life - 5 Tips on Being Patient

Living a Passionate Life - 5 Tips on Being Patient
By Paula Harvey
Designing a passionate life requires focus and patience. It is easy to get caught up in events of the day and lose patience. To be patient means to be steadfast or calm in the face of obstacles or difficulties and without complaint.

Have you ever experienced a person who is patient under all circumstances no matter what is occurring? I have and I found that they understand that a lack of patience, drains your energy, creates negative energy for all people concerned, and stagnates creativity. Very often, impatience causes harsh words and arguments in all kinds of relationships.

When you start to feel impatient, try one or more of the following 5 tips and see what happens:

1. Stop take a deep breathe in through your nose, and breathe out through your mouth while you say ahhhhhh. Notice the difference in your body. Is any of the tension in your body gone? If not, try it again. Depending on how invested you are in impatience, you may need to take a few breaths to notice a difference.
2. Ask yourself: Where am I living right now, in the past, present, or future? If you are impatient, perhaps it is because you are remembering a similar circumstance that had a negative outcome, or you want this moment to be over because you believe that the future will be better than the present. If you are not in the present, change your focus to what is occurring right now and perhaps you can affect a different outcome by using some creativity.
3. Ask yourself: What can I learn from this experience? Reflect on what is occurring and notice the emotions that are present in this event. What are other possibilities for how you could be in this experience? How can you change to reduce your level of impatience?
4. Ask yourself: What story am I creating about this experience? Often times we make up stories as to why we believe a person or an event is not going how we thought it would go. Notice the story that you make up and see if you can make up a different one that reduces your impatience.
5. To be patient requires faith. You may have a goal or a plan that you want to implement and it is taking longer than you want it to. Being impatient will probably delay the outcome even more because your creative energy will be stagnated and you may not see other possible actions to take that could move your forward faster and easier. Patience requires faith in yourself, the process, and your higher power.

What is your experience in being patient as you design a passionate life?

I wonder what would happen if you were able to identify your passions and start living in alignment with them? I offer tips and methods for living passionately on my blog. I'd like to invite you to receive my free Passion Deficit Disorder (PDD) Report and find out why passion is so important in your life and what you can do about it. How to Develop Powerful Charisma
By George Hutton
I've you ever heard about somebody that has incredible charisma, you probably heard their name spoken with a different energy that other peoples names. Think back now, if you can, and remember a time when you and your friend were talking about something. Then this person's name came up in the conversation. You could sense that everybody who knew who this person was suddenly changed their focus, just slightly. They suddenly became interested in this person. You didn't know who this person was, so perhaps you listened carefully as well, and tried to figure out exactly what it was that caused all the others to become so interested in this. They may have tried to describe to you what it was that made this person, so, so, so, cool. They might have even realized themselves that they couldn't really put into words why this person was so cool.

But they felt an attraction, a desire, a pull towards this person. They felt like whenever this person was in their presence, anything was possible. They somehow were able to forget their normal anxieties and only think of the opportunities that lay ahead. Forget about their fears and think only of the good things to come. Well, because you are sitting there, reading this article, (which means you are smart enough to realize that it's important to learn new things), you are about to learn the secrets of this magical power. Many of my articles on my blog are dedicated to this. I find this a fascinating subject, and many people come by to find out more.

This quality, of course, is called charisma. But what is it? How do you get it? Are you born with it? Can you get it from a bottle? Can you learn it in a class? Actually, it's much easier than you think, just like many secrets to success. The trick is to change your thinking just a bit, and you will discover your power. Here are three things that can powerfully improve your charisma so that people will be talking about YOU like we described above. Ready? I thought so.

One

Genuinely appreciate people. Learn to appreciate EVERYBODY that you come across for some reason. If something doesn't come to you right away when you see somebody, make up a reason. Surely in their past they have been kind to somebody, or helped out a child, or given money to a homeless person. If you want you can imagine they are made of the same source energy that you are, and that you are really manifestations of the same energy. Or they are a fellow creature of God. Or they are a fellow republican. Or they are likely a soldier in the fight against global warming. Anything that you can think of. And let them know. Even if it is through brief eye contact and a smile, let them know through your facial expression that you appreciate them, and you don't require anything in return.

Two

Give them space to respond. Even a second or two. When you see them, appreciate them, and smile at them. Give them at least a couple seconds to respond. Don't worry or lose any respect for them if they don't. Give them the opportunity, and respect their decision to respond or not to respond.

Three

Move on. After you've given them the opportunity to respond, shift your energy back to where it was before you saw them. Allow them the peace to move on in their own world without worrying about you. Kind of like catch and release. Even if they look at you like you are some kind of kook, let them have their opinion, and move on. If they smiled back at you, accept it and move on, just as quickly. What you are doing is building up your experience of positive interactions with people, without building up a need for a positive response. You'll find that the more you do this, the more people will respond positively to you. Pretty soon, people will sense your energy coming from a mile away. Be careful not to expect any positive response from anybody, as this will taint your energy, and remove the charisma that you've built up.

It's as simple as that. One, two three. Appreciate, pause, release. It might seem scary at first, but that's ok. The more you do this, the more you build up your confidence and self esteem. And that in turn will make people feel even better when you beam your appreciation at them.

Because so many people enjoy things like this, I've written many other articles on my blog. If you are interested in learning more, come by a read a few more articles when you get a chance, or watch some of my videos. Few things are better than increasing your charisma to help other people feel better.

Stop Nail Biting Now!
By Cynthia McBride
Nail biting has been with me for as long as I can remember. I can never remember a time when I did not bite my nails, or have stubby little, bitten up fingers! It was embarrassing, having this nasty habit defining me! Friends would catch me, sitting there, fingers in my mouth, absently chewing away. I would go to a job interview and feel the need to hide my nasty looking finger nails, or rather, what was left of them.

Occasionally I would come across someone with horrible looking fingers like mine, and catch myself thinking, "WOW! What is going on in her life, that she has finger nails that look like that?" And then I remembered my own chewed nails and thought about how I must come across to people!

I had pretty much given up the hope of ever having normal looking hands. And then I found a technique that was developed by Anthony Robbins, the author of Awaken the Giant Within. I was familiar with Mr. Robbins' work, having read his books and listened to some of his tapes. He is a master at empowering people to become all that they can be. He can motivate probably anyone to take something and run with it! But could he motivate me to stop biting my nails?

So I watched this video, 'Stop Nail Biting Secrets', that identifies the triggers that cause me to chew my fingernails. The triggers are replaced by new empowering responses that empower me to not bite my nails. If you are familiar with Anthony Robbins' work, this will make sense to you, as his work is all about people empowering themselves.

This program is guaranteed to work, and work in only 9 minutes! And it does work. I have lost the desire for nail biting. I can not believe that in only 9 minutes, my disgusting, lifelong nail biting habit is gone! But hey--believe me, I am not complaining!

If you don't believe me, check it out for yourself!
http://www.stopbitingnails.info

Cynthia McBride has been (unfortunately) a life long nail biter and knows first hand, the embarrassment of having chewed up, bitten down fingernails. An avid interest in meditation and the power of the mind has led her to discover the 'secret' to stop nail biting, and she is happy to report that she has normal looking fingernails....finally! http://www.stopbitingnails.info

Hold on Or Let Go

Hold on Or Let Go
By Karen Hood-Caddy
Letting go can be difficult. As a coach and as a person I am always trying to help myself and others delineate the difference between when it's right to push harder and when it is right to let go. An acid test for me is to imagine letting go or even to let go a little and notice what that feels like. If there is relief, that's usually a sign that I'm going too hard at something.

Letting go is not just an excuse for not working hard. Working hard is good, but sometimes it's just not the right thing to do. The true skill is knowing when to let go and when to keep on pushing. To me, working hard is appropriate when we are "helping" something to happen rather than "making" something happen. When we are "helping" something to happen, it assumes there is some energy already there. This is important. To me this means "congruence". In other words, we want something to happen, but forces around us, which I'll call the "Universe" for lack of a better term, also want it to happen.

Here is an example of letting go that will help. A few years ago, when I was returning to Canada, I looked at a wonderful apartment on the river. I thought it was too expensive and turned it down. The owner rented it to someone else. I kicked myself for weeks, realizing that it was just my fear of meeting the rent that stood in the way. Yes, the rent was a little high but not outside of my reach if I stretched.

Luckily for me, even though I had let go, the 'Universe' still had a grip on the apartment and all was not lost. So, even though I had taken note of the lesson and moved on, a few weeks later, the landlord called and said that the new renters had not worked out--was I interested in renting it? Of course!

When something is right, there is a general fitting that involves more than you. This 'fitting' can be relied on. When you let go, there are other energies that continue to hold what you want in place.

To the contrary, when something isn't right, often no matter how hard you push, you can't make it work. In these situations, you get the feeling that you're pushing a rock uphill and that if you stop your push for a second, what you want will come tumbling to the ground. In the event that there is no support like this, it's simply exhausting to continue pushing.

So, when you are not sure whether to hold on or let go, imagine letting go. You might even place something symbolic in your hand and then let that item go. Notice how that feels. Our bodies often know things that we don't. Besides, even thinking about letting go will help us loosen our grip and it's that very grip that can strangle the life force out of something in itself. And once something is free to come or go, it can find its rightful place, either with you. Or not.

How to Overcome Envy and Move Forward With Your Life
By Trevor Johnson
Envy, believe it or not, we have all had at one point in our life. How to overcome envy and move forward with life is one question that many individuals ask. Many people find themselves sitting on their couch wondering why exactly they envy someone. Believe it or not, that person you are envying could be envying you back. Today, in this world, it all seems that we have something that someone else has, yet someone else has something that you want. Does this make any sense for you? If not, then think about it for a minute. Did you think about it? This saying is very true. Within this article, we are going to tell you how to overcome envy and move forward with your life.

First of all, your neighbor has a new Ford Mustang GT and they park it right in their front yard, when they parked their old car in the garage all the time. So? Why should this bother you? Because they have something you have always wanted. That model on television looks so much better than you do (in your opinion) and you use the same type of cosmetics. All your colleagues got promotions and you work ten times harder. Each and every one of these people you envy.

If you do not stop that envy you have, then it is going to get out of control. Have you ever heard the saying that you should be grateful for what you have? You have a loving husband/wife and children. There are not many people out there that have this in their life. You have food on your table to eat, there's many people in other countries (as well as your own country) that does not have food on the table, let alone, a dinner table.

The key on how to overcome envy and move forward with your life all revolves around you being thankful for what you have. Remember, you have things that many others do not have; you very well could be envied by someone else. Smile, have a great day and stop envying people as it gets you nowhere.

By Sunny James
Learn how you can get more done in less time. Have you ever really admired someone that you know because they were able to get so much done with their time.

They appeared to do this with very little effort on their part and yet you sit here wishing you could be like that. You really need to know that you can learn to get more done in less time, it is easier than you might think.

Here are 4 tips to help you overcome that procrastination and get more done in less time.

* You need to know that you are not alone with your struggle to overcome procrastination, many folks struggle with that same problem. You need to start off by really paying attention to your thoughts and what needs to be done. Then write down a list of these things and prioritize them in the order of importance, Now make out a chart for each day of the week and what needs to be done on that day.

* Then take the first task that is listed on your list for that day and start taking action towards achieving it. It helps if you give yourself a prize when you are done. This could be some thing simple like your favorite snack or beverage. It can also be buying an article of clothing for yourself. You want to make it something positive for yourself so that you look forward to achieving your goal. You could even make it something like time on the computer or time to talk to your family or best friend.

* Start to make this a daily activity, check your list and make a goal to get at least one thing done a day. This is really important even if you only spend a little time towards your project. If you can try and set a side a certain time of the day for working on these projects this will help you stay on track.

* You want to be in touch with your feelings and when you start to find yourself thinking I know I should do this but I do not want to, I will do it tomorrow then right away stop your thoughts and start working on it. Stuck at the Midlife Crossroads? Two Strategies For Getting From Stuck to Forward Momentum

Stuck at the Midlife Crossroads? Two Strategies For Getting From Stuck to Forward Momentum
By Kate Sanner
There is a scene in the classic holiday movie “A Christmas Story” (an adaptation of childhood stories of the late writer/humorist Jean Shepherd) where a boy named Flick is bragging to his friends that his father said that if you put your tongue on a frozen flag pole, it wouldn’t get stuck. (By the way, they were 8 year old boys, if you are wondering who would think of such a thing.) On a “triple-dog dare” from Schwartz, one of the other boys, Flick proceeded to do so, armed with his belief that his self-proclaimed infallible father was always right.

Well, the laws of nature - and of winters in Indiana - dictated otherwise. As Flick’s self-satisfied “See, I told ya” soon turned into the realization that he was indeed stuck, he flailed, cried, screamed “Stuck! Stuck! Stuck!” and implored the help of his friends. His friends, driven by a higher imperative – the bell that signaled the end of recess and a return to class or “you’d be in big trouble” –knew only one solution, i.e., running back to the classroom, and abandoning their friend to his “stuck” fate.

Now, poor Flick was only going by what he knew and believed, reinforced by the belief he had in his father’s infallibility. And he knew and believed only one solution - flailing, crying and screaming - to try and resolve it. Getting into this problem was easy…getting out of it was far more difficult. It took the resources of not only one observant teacher but that of the local police, fire and rescue personnel.

Inevitably, there comes a time or times in your life when you get stuck and you flail around trying to get unstuck. Midlife in general can be one of those times when you feel a strong urge to move in a different direction in your life but you don’t know how to begin. You may even know what you want to do –like write a book - but just can’t get it together. You may be in a predicament like staying in a job that you are intellectually and emotionally done with but are unsure how to leave it and still support yourself financially. Or you may be in a relationship that’s ok but not going anywhere. And it seems that no matter what you do to resolve it, no matter how much you flail about, you inevitably default to your belief system and rely on what you already know to resolve it…and the “stuck-ness” only persists. The truth is you will not solve any significant problem you face by doing things the way you have done them before.

Which brings me to the quote by Albert Einstein that I ran across again the other day while researching another topic: “The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them." Frank, a physicist acquaintance of mine, explained to me that in Einstein’s time, “all of science thought that light waves were the product of a vibration of a substance they called the ‘ether’. But, no one could detect its presence. The puzzle was really confounded when light speed measured ‘along’ the ether's motion was found to be equal to the light speed opposite its motion. Surely the speed of the wave must be different when the waving stuff is moving toward you, versus away from you. But it wasn't. Einstein said, maybe the speed of light never changes, no matter how fast or slow you are moving. This was revolutionary! We now call it the ‘special theory of relativity and it represents a total departure from the way people were used to thinking about the world.”

Einstein’s original thinking solved a scientific puzzle, revolutionized and changed forever how people thought about the world. Now, true genius is a rare phenomenon. Answers seem to come to them from a region far beyond what we average-to-above-average thinkers rely on.

The brain, the marvelous computer that it is, has a glitch. When faced with a problem, it searches the data banks for existing information and knowledge. It will not automatically go to the thousands of bits of new information it has been exposed to on a daily basis but to the information that lies inside its immediate and very narrow bandwidth of consciousness.

But it is in this outer region that the answers lie. How do you access these bits of information? There are many ways but let me suggest two simple things you can do to implement a different level of thinking.

First, if you don’t already know how to, learn how to create a mind map or mind web. If you are not acquainted with these terms do an online search for them and you will find, along with explanations of the terms, the resources for learning them, including books and even software programs. These tools can be used for solving problems in personal arenas as well as business or work-related arenas.

Simply described, mind maps or webs are visual representations of your ideas with the main idea placed in the center of the paper. One then intuitively branches out from the center with ideas that relate to the main idea. Different colored pens or markers can be used to denote each branch of a related idea. Symbols can also be placed on each of the branches as well as the “tributaries” that run from each of the branches.

For example, if you’re a woman in midlife, your main problem may be not knowing where you want to go next in your life. (By the way, you may find these maps run pretty large, so be prepared with additional paper or larger sized paper or poster boards.) At the center, you may draw a cloud-like shape labeled “Where to Next?” with a big question mark placed at the center. You feel pretty confounded by the problem, so you choose grey as the color of the cloud.

You then think, “Well, to get me started, let me see where I feel pretty grounded right now”, so you draw a solid, thick line or arrow to a heart shape you label “Relationships”. From here you draw other lines to your spouse or significant relationship, children, family of origin, friendships, neighbors, community-based connections, organizations you belong to and any other kind of connections you may have. Off of each of those you might list an individual’s name. In doing so, you remember that you met Rhonda at a fundraiser for a charity you support and that she is a career counselor. You indicate through a color or symbol that she is someone to contact. (You can transfer this contact to a more linear “to-do” list if you’d like).

As you add more concepts or ideas like “My Current Job” or “My Hobbies”, you may begin to see where you can draw lines between and among these concepts or ideas. The more you do this, the more the brain starts making connections automatically and begins to draw on ideas that lay outside your immediate, narrow bandwidth of consciousness. You’ll suddenly get a flash to something you read in a magazine or an announcement you saw…things you didn’t automatically remember.

These maps or webs trigger your thinking and are a way to become consciously aware of subconscious thoughts or even feelings. You may suddenly remember how good you felt when you were doing a certain task. Make sure to highlight it in some way as it is a clue that may be an avenue to follow.

Second, form a “brainstorming” group. Invite 4 or 5 people you know with diverse backgrounds; e.g., if you are in sales, try and invite someone from totally unrelated fields such as library science or technology. Don’t invite close friends or family. Though they love you and support you, they may think a lot like you or they may try to protect you from further problems. This is not to your advantage in solving your current significant problem.

At this brainstorming session, have a flip chart or large pieces of paper adhered to the wall. Present your problem to the group and have them say out loud all the things that come to their minds as a solution to the problem. Write these ideas down on the paper so everyone can see. One idea will spark another. Do not judge, “blow-off” or negate any idea during this process. Take down the papers (hopefully you have many) and review them at another time soon after the group.

Later, you can have a more critical thinking acquaintance help you prioritize the ideas you did come up with and/or blow holes in some of them. Add the usable ideas to your mind map/web or keep a running list of possibilities in a binder or journal. By the way, don’t forget to do something to show appreciation and to return the favor to your brainstorming group.

Thinking at a different level than what got you into a problem - by using tools like mind maps/webs, brainstorming groups or the myriad of other possibilities you just haven’t thought of yet - is a true jumping off point for your growth and success.

Living Simply - 3 Steps to Living Your Life With Less Complication
By Brendon Parker
The very nature of our daily lives is about the accumulation of stuff and with it we add layers of complexity. The more we have the more we need to pay for, insure, store, protect, maintain, keep clean and ensure we have the proper succession issues taken care of, and we do this because we're trying to be happy.

Some steps to consider when looking to simplify your life are:

1) Create an outline of what is important to you, a lot of people will tell you to make a list, while that can be helpful one can get bogged down in the detail of it all. but instead you could try setting up a project board and cutting out pictures and pasting them onto the board either at random or in different categories. We tend to think visually and not in list form (quick think of an island holiday, did you see a beautiful beach or a list of what the beach would look like). Try to keep your categories to ten or less, any more and it will get messy.

2)Get focused on getting all your legal loose ends tied up. Do you have a will? do you need a living will? do you want to be an organ donor? what do you want done when you die in terms of a funeral? Not fun stuff I know but get it done quickly with the right advice and it then doesn't need to float around in your head eating up your energy with worry.

3)Make yourself really good at something. No matter what it is that you are interested in, pick one subject and get really, really good at it. The focus and discipline needed to get to the point of success will flow over into other areas of your life and be a huge confidence booster.

There are so many things in life today that distract us and fragment our thinking that we really need to simplify our lives to be able to enjoy them. It is an ongoing process, but it is better to make a start than find yourself ten years down the line and wonder how different things could have been.

I hope you found the article helpful. If you want to create a new for yourself future go to http://MaverickMoneyMakersVillage.com

Ways to Keep Yourself Amused!
By Allison Ryan
The feeling of boredom gradually creeps upon the best of us. It is an oppressive and uncomfortable feeling, much like being trapped in a straight jacket and thrown into a furnace. Your palms start to sweat and your breath gets short as you stare blankly at the wall in front of you.

But don't lose hope just yet. If you relax for just a minute, you will surely think of things to do. In case you can't, this article is here to help. There are a lot of simple things that nobody ever even thinks of, and they are absolutely genius!

Take greeting cards for example. Ecards, which are free online greeting cards, are good for any occasion at all. You can spend as much time as you want customizing them, and then send it off to every single person you have ever had an email address for.

The bright colors, lively animations and fancy music that you can put into an e card will keep you occupied for minutes, and the more e cards you make, the more minutes of boredom you have stamped into the ground. You have a perfectly good excuse to send them out as well, because even if it is not a holiday or anybody's birthday, they have e cards that are "just because."

Animated greeting cards have another benefit as well. Sending e cards and online greetings to everybody you've ever known might bring you closer to a friend you have drifted away from. Just think, they get the e card in their email and they decide to strike up a conversation with you.

Once you finished catching up on what has been going on in each others lives, you may find that hours have flown by. You may even end up setting something up. There is nothing better for boredom than the company of an old friend.

While you're browsing the e card website, you might notice that they have a section for Mother's Day greetings. You could begin making Mothers Day ecards with Mother's Day poems in them for all of the mothers in your life.

Many of these e card websites have things besides just email greeting templates. Sometimes there are games and forums and things like that; in fact some of the e cards have games inside of them. You could make one and send it to yourself, and you can keep it in your inbox for later when you inevitably become bored once again.

If you go on the forums you can look through the topics for something that interests you, and you can start to put in your two cents. This can become a new hobby for you-something for you to do whenever you get bored, or just whenever you feel like it. Plus you might even make some new friends; other people who posted on the same thread as you, for the same reason you did-almost as if it was meant to be.

How to Learn From Your Mistakes
By Alan Gillies
Each and every one of us makes mistakes, don't we? Whether these mistakes are incredibly big or quite small we still must make specific decisions in our daily life, and it's entirely possible that some of these decisions - not being good ones, won't pay off as we hope they will. It's certainly a part human nature to make all kinds of mistakes, but the best part about this is that the sum total of these mistakes will eventually lead to a colossal leap forward toward success.

Success isn't just a matter of being perfect in everything you do - as perfection comes only from time and experience. How can you differentiate a wrong decision from a right one without knowing what is right and what is wrong? As rightly said by Fred Shero, "Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must first set yourself on fire".

If you are not making mistakes, it may be that you're playing on the safe side and not taking any risks. In every mistake you make, there's a hidden lesson. You'll end up learning many things from those mistakes, and the next time you arrive at a similar situation or problem - you won't repeat the earlier actions, and perhaps you'll even make a perfect decision which will lead to extraordinarily fruitful results.

It is a famous saying that those who have not experienced failure can never know how sweet the taste of success is. If you always succeed easily, then you will never be able to prepare yourself to face the inevitable mistakes and failures. Your strength in overcoming mistakes can make you a role model in the eyes of others who want to learn from your experience, so they can then deal with situations in the same successful manner.

In previous times, there have been quite a few successful inventions which were much more than brief thoughts. Those inventions appeared after considering a great many alternatives and choosing the best from all of them. Many experiments have been done to verify the viability of each of the alternatives, and quite a bit of money and effort was spent to figure out the best solutions, but that doesn't mean that the expense invested into the experiments got wasted. A great deal of knowledge and experience was gained from those experiments, and all of this was then utilised in the refinement of the final experiments done at later stages.

So, now what do you think, aren't mistakes an essential aspect of success? Mistakes can happen anywhere and at any time, and it's a fundamental part of human behaviour to make mistakes. The key here is to strive to deal with the mistakes in a positive manner and always try to learn something new from each one of them.

How to Become a Highly Paid Expert in Any Field - Simple Steps, Huge Results

How to Become a Highly Paid Expert in Any Field - Simple Steps, Huge Results
By Naveen Thalanki
What is all the fuss about becoming an expert. Why does being perceived as an expert matter more and more. It matters because the world is becoming less plain vanilla and more hostile for the generalist. Why would anyone do business with you if someone carries the halo of an expert about him AND offers the same services as you.

In fact the need to become an expert is stressed more and more in marketing circles. But this is the first webinar where I came across profound insights on how to actually become one. So as funny as it might sound we now have an expert on experts, Brendon Burchard. He is the founder of Experts Academy. Here is what he has to say about becoming a highly paid expert.

An Expert - An informed person who gets highly paid for their insight.

4 Key Areas of Expertise For An Employee

For those of us who work for others i.e. have a career, there are 4 key areas of expertise. You will also notice that these areas have a progressive relation from one to another.

1) Business Creator -> A person with this expertise is a growth minded individual. He focuses on the question "How do I bring more business to my business?" An entrepreneur is a good example of a business creator. But even an employee can become an excellent business creator.

2) Business Operator -> A person with this expertise makes things happen. She focuses on operational excellence and cost control.

This is also the next step in the evolution of a business. Typically an entrepreneur creates a business using the first expertise. Then his managers and staff work at improving the efficiencies.

3) Business Innovator -> A maverick who discovers additional value by being different. A person with this expertise shakes things up by bringing in new ideas. He focuses on competitive advantage.

If a business creator focuses on the market to create more business a business innovator focuses on the competition to derive more distinction and competitive advantage of his company.

4) Business leader -> focuses on people development and talent and leadership pipeline.

To sum up you need to become an expert on all four areas to become an indispensable employee. A good trait in the current economic situation.

But these have a stacking effect. You can become great just by mastering one or two areas.

Some real life examples...

Carol Bartz currently the CEO of Yahoo is a business creator and a legendary business operator. She brought Autodesk back from dead and is known for her managerial control.

Another example, Wang Chuan-Fu, CEO of BYD, a super smart businessman from China, has singlehandedly taken China to the top of the world pecking order in manufacturing batteries for electric cars. He is a great business creator. However BYD is Wang and Wang is BYD. There is no one to take his place. Wang is not a business leader in that sense.

If you are not an employee but a self employed businessperson, that is an entrepreneur then there are 5 areas to focus on becoming an expert at.

1) Speaking. This is one of the most highly paid industries. Anthony Robbins, if you have not hear of him then you have not heard of the self improvement industry, is paid 250,000 dollars for a one hour speech

2) Seminar. Conducting seminars in your area of expertise.

3) Coaching. This is a rapidly growing category.

4) Consulting

5) Products - Books, reports, podcasts etc.

8 Things Experts Do

1) Choose Mastery -> An expert selects one or a few areas and then dives deep into those areas to build mastery. An opportunist on the other hand gives in too easily to boredom and frustration and moves on to dig new holes elsewhere.

2) Study their subject and interview other experts, intensely looking for patterns and best practices. Those who succeed are those who listen.

Studying your subject requires that you read in your area of expertise.

3) Create arguments on what to pay attention to, what things mean, how things work and how things might turn out.

To really understand what the above statement means just watch a business channel on TV such as CNBC. You will have experts giving their take on the latest economic event or stock index.

4) Simplify complex ideas by building frameworks.

5) Write, speak, record, package their knowledge through books, blogs etc.

6) Campaign their expertise. Not promote but campaign. Promotion is a one time point of contact with the customer whereas a campaign is sustained contact with the customer. Research indicates that a prospect buys on the 7th contact on an average.

7) Real experts charge expert fees ( and boy are they high. Just think lawyer, doctor.)

8 ) Focus on building a business that offers distinction (from the competition), excellence and service.

How Do You Know an Expert

In other words what does it take for a prospect to perceive you as an expert.

There are 11.

1) Position (Title, Job etc.). A 'Vice President of Marketing' title carries more weight than huh 'Manager-'.

2) Personal Path (Their journey of struggle and success). If you are looking for an expert to teach you how to go from personal bankruptcy to financial freedom would you look for some one who has achieved exactly what you were looking for from exactly similar circumstances or a hot shot MBA from an Ivy League business school with specialization in personal finance.

I would chose the former.

3) Progress (Show actual results)

4) Products (Books, articles etc.). Personally for me a person that has written a book has an extremely good chance of an expert status in my world.

5) Praise (testimonials)

6) Paying clients (A roster of clients that have actually shelved out money)

7) Press / Performance ( As seen or quoted in the media)

8) Promotions ( You the prospect have been told about the expert)

9) Partnerships (Others believe in this expert therefore you should believe in her as well)

10) Philosophy. Even if you have none of the rest but are known for your brilliant philosophy then you are an expert.

11) Popularity ( most viewed, visited, sold etc.)

There you are. Simple and clear cut steps to become a well known expert.

So what do you want to be an expert on?

Like the article then check out my blog for more.

Need more than just articles. How about books on personal growth written by some of the greatest thinkers in history.

This collection includes well known names such Tom Peters, Seth Godin, Napolean Hill, Jay Abraham, James Allen and many many more.

A Vital Mind at Midlife - 7 Tips to Try Now
By Susan R Meyer
Remember Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy in Pat and Mike? What a great example of mental vitality at midlife! The two of them verbally sparred their way through the entire movie. Can you hear Hepburn's staccato voice making witty remarks? Do you want to keep you mind - and wits - just as sharp? Your hairdresser and your gym will keep your body vital and young. Here are seven tips to keep your mind in shape.

1. Let's Get Physical

What has your body done for your brain lately? If you're not in good physical shape, your brain will let you know. Dance, bike, walk, run - get some exercise every day. Jump rope. Rollerblade. The more you move, the younger you'll stay. Regular exercise improves circulation throughout the body and keeps those brain cells in shape.

Did you know that regular exercise releases chemicals that decrease stress and promotes emotional well-being? Stress slows you down physically and mentally. Lack of activity can make depression deeper, making you feel older by the minute. Get moving!

2. Riddle Me This

Crossword puzzles, word games, riddles - they all keep the brain working. Did you know that the puzzles in some papers get harder as the week goes on? Master Monday, then tackle Tuesday. Keep going until you are fearless on Friday. Play word games on your phone. Try to figure out something new - a recipe, a different way of doing an everyday task, a new route to work. Challenge your mind every day.

3. Become a Detective - Develop Your Powers of Observation

Pick something new to observe every day, focus on it, and keep some observation notes. One day it might be clothing, another, how people interact on the bus, another how people carry packages. It doesn't matter as much what you observe as how you observe. Look for connections between different things that you see. Are there patterns or trends? Do younger people carry different umbrellas than older people? Who jaywalks and who doesn't? At the end of the day, look at your notes and create a theory about how the world works.

4. Meditate

Meditation lowers your blood pressure and improves your mental alertness. There are many excellent meditation tapes and websites available if you need inspiration. If not, just find a quiet place. Sit in a relaxed position with both feet on the floor. Breath in through your nose, out through your moth. Let your thoughts float by like clouds in the sky. Watch them. Notice the space between them as they float past. Let yourself slip into that quiet, peaceful space between the thoughts. Let that peace envelop you.

5. Take a Field Trip

Go someplace new. Get out of your everyday surroundings. If you live in or near a medium to large city, explore different neighborhoods. Walk around. Maybe even strike up a conversation with a stranger. Investigate some stores; sample a new cuisine.

Take a virtual field trip if you can't take a real one. Plan your dream vacation on your computer. Pick up some travel brochures and maps.

6. Laugh, Laugh, Laugh

Laughter keeps you young - especially when you can laugh at yourself. Laughter not only reduces stress, it's also good for your immune system.

7. Think Positive!

Practice positive thinking. Learn to use counters to deal with your negative thoughts. Don't say, "I can't do this." Try, "I can do anything I attempt." Keep positive statements posted where you can see them every day. Repeat your positive messages often. Negative thinking ages you. Positive thinking keeps you going.

And a bonus technique:

8. Develop Your Spirit

Connect to something bigger than yourself on a regular basis. Become part of an organized religion - whether the religion of your childhood or something new - or connect to Spirit through music, meditation or spending time in nature. Developing your spirit revitalizes your whole being.

The Top 10 Ingredients of an Effective Visualization
By Heidi Michaels
Anticipating an event, competition, or a stressful situation can cause people to feel anxious, uncertain or even fearful. Anticipating the start of race, giving a presentation or flying in a plane can all elicit anxious feelings. The "what ifs" that can run through our minds fuels our anxiety and doubt. The "what ifs" also play out in our minds in not only words, but in pictures as well. Our "what ifs" are the movie we're living. In order to perform in more relaxed, confident state, we need to change the movie in which we're living. After all, what you see is what you get.

Many of our challenges in life, sports and in business can be handled by changing our "what ifs". How many times have you imagined an outcome to a life event that you were certain would not be favorable? The event probably went just as you imagined, right?

Champions in life, sports and in business use visualization strategies to overcome feelings of anxiety, perform at their best and to increase their energy and enjoyment. Every visualization has 10 important ingredients.

1. Begin by relaxing. A relaxed mind equals a relaxed body.

Quiet your body and your mind. Relax your breathing.

2. It must be real, right now, in the present moment.

See yourself performing now, not in the past, not in the future. Right now.

3. Use all of your senses.

Actively engage what it feels, tastes, smells, sounds, and looks like to perform exactly as you would like to.

4. Use repetition and small doses.

Practice your visualization in small doses. 15-20 minutes can seem like a lifetime. Start out with 5 minutes.

Stop. Then do it again for just 5 minutes. Try to increase your time to a maximum of 20 minutes, two to three times a day.

5. Use different perspectives.

Imagine seeing yourself performing as if you are looking through the lens of a camera. Try the zoom lens and the wide lens. See yourself from the front, the back, and the side. See it from your mind's eye and as an observer.

6. Utilize your emotions

Feel your excitement, your pride, as you visualize your performance.

7. Be perfect

The best time to be a perfectionist is in your visualization. See yourself performing perfectly.

8. Use past successes to fuel and energize you.

Recall past successes. Recall the emotions and your senses to energize yourself through a tough situation; build your confidence.

9. Incorporate affirmations

Utilize positive self-talk. Repeat affirmations to yourself.

10. Practice

Like any skill the more you practice, the better you become.

Impact of Words

Impact of Words
By Shveitta Sethi
Most of us have heard sayings and quotations about words. Words are just labels and yet they have the power to change your life. Often as a young teen, I would say hurtful things to my mother and actually end up really hurting her. She did try her best, but her best was never good enough for me. She was never as good a cook as my friends mother, or as good a teacher as my teacher or as well dressed as my neighbor. I always had something to pick on her.

I never did realize the power of my hurtful words till I heard something on similar lines from my daughter.

Life has a way of giving back. Just yesterday she said something like mummy everyone thinks you are pretty, but they never see you in the morning when you wake up !! I thought it was rather funny and pretended to laugh it off but when I thought about it, it actually bothered me. I thought about how I used to say things to my mother with the intention of hurting her. I thought that my daughter was purposely trying to say something to hurt me. Maybe hurting me was not her intention, but I took it as such and I started a whole debate on how she was being disrespectful and hurtful. She is still very young, so I don't think her intention was to hurt me, but I already started thinking about when she would become a teenager and say things that would hurt me to no end. All this is going on in my own little brain and I have no proof that it will happen.

This might sound a bit smug, but I think I have done a bit more research on child behavior and child psychology than my mother did. So instead of telling my daughter about the power of words and how it affects people, we did a little experiment. I had read about Masaru Emotos water experiment and how the water reacts to words. ( Google Masaru Emoto & if you don't know about it). I saw the video and was quite fascinated, but being the skeptic that I am, I had to see the results for myself. I think I must have read somewhere about the rice experiment and decided to check for myself if it was really true that what we say has an impact?

The experiment goes like this.

Take two or three jars/bottles/Tupperware. On one jar write, I LOVE YOU, on another write, I HATE YOU, and if you have a third, write IGNORE. ( I made my daughter do that)

Next take boiled/steamed rice and put equal amounts in each jar. Cover the jar and say out what you have written on the jar, so to the jar that says, I love you&say with love..I love you and to the one that says, I hate you &say with emotion..I hate you and the one that says ignore, just leave it somewhere where you may not see it and just ignore it.

Do this every day for about a week to 10 days . The results will blow your mind.

The Jar which said I love you will be all white with a few green fungus bits, The jar which had I hate you written will be all black and green mold and the ignore will be all fuzzy and moldy. I highly recommend you do the experiment to see the results for yourself.

Exactly same content, same environment, the only difference being the written word and the thought given to it. If words can do this to rice, imagine what they can do to us and to our life.

So now I had ammunition to show to my daughter. As she was the one who had done the writing, it was really her experiment. She immediately understood how what she said had an effect on people. No she has not become mother Teresa and neither have I, but we are now a bit more aware and conscious of the words we speak and the thoughts we think.

My mother used to always tell me& if you have nothing nice to say, don't bother saying it at all. But did I listen?

Well, I guess it is never too late to start.

Optimum Living - Wellness Techniques
By Robin De-Ivy Allen
On the journey to successful life design and wellness we must practice superior mental fitness before all else. This is a key wellness technique. Mental fitness is a lot like physical fitness; you must stay dedicated to doing what it takes to stay mentally fit. The steps to enhance mental fitness are as follows:

Positive Self-Talk We often fill our minds with senseless mind chatter and negative self-talk. Too many of us mentally beat up on ourselves and place self-imposed limitations on our success. You must learn to replace all negative self-talk with positive self-talk. Whenever you catch yourself thinking fearfully and doubting yourself, take a moment to check your thoughts and flip the switch to a more positive state. I agree with many experts who support the idea of repeating affirmations until they become real to you. Restate and put a positive spin on all the negative thoughts in your mind. You must believe it before you can see it! Please recite the following whenever you feel negative self-talk trying to push its way into your mind: I am a unique person whom the world has never before seen and will never see the likes of again. I was born to be good. I was born to succeed. I am here to bless the lives of others. I was born to be great because I have what it takes. I am enthusiastic, a master of myself. I'm optimistic. I am organized, I am a leader, I am a hard worker, I am a big thinker and I am happy and blessed. There isn't a thing in this world that I can't do.

Recite this passage often. Remember you are in constant training for your life design; just as an athlete trains and practices, you must do the same until these thoughts become second nature. Many people don't realize how much of an impact "stinking thinking" has on our well-beings.

Visualization To achieve what we want, we must be willing and diligent about creating a mental picture in our minds. Visualize yourself filled with energy, balanced, happy and content. Visualize yourself reaching your goals. Feel the emotion that goes along with that achievement. Creating a vision is a powerful tool. If you don't already have one, create a vision board that represents your goals and desires using pictures, whether they are photos, drawings or pictures from a magazine. Put the board in a place where you can see it often.

Empowering Mental Nourishment It is imperative that you offer yourself positive mental nourishment by reading, watching and listening to those things that support your goals. If you focus on the negative, negative things will show up in your life. Empowering mental nourishment moves you forward and is a valuable tool in strengthening your overall mental fitness.

Positive People We are the sum total of the images we see, the information we digest and the people we know. Are you associating with people you admire, people that you love to learn from, and people who have knowledge in an area that can help you? Do you have mutually beneficial relationships that consistently result in win-win situations? Who are your Power Partners? These are people who are truly in your corner and support you in your personal and professional growth, and understand your goals, values, and mission. Just as the first leap toward wellness is mastering the mind, step two is putting our physical wellness in order. Below you will find the six steps to wellness:

#1 Detox Detoxification is critical in setting the foundation of wellness. Our bodies are bombarded with toxins. Toxicity is all around us, in our food, the air, the water we drink, the fabrics of our clothing, household products and several other places. These toxins can manifest themselves in our bodies in a variety of ways, including emotional disturbance. There are many things you can do to detoxify, which range from a simple cleanse utilizing food to actually having colonic therapy. It's important to consult a professional to help you determine the best form of detox for your body.

#2 Take Nutrition Seriously Food is more powerful than any other prescription. Food can literally kill us or keep us alive. As the old adage says, "you are what you eat." When it comes to eating well, people generally know what to do, but often fail to do what they know. If we eat well 90% of the time, having "fun foods" on occasions will be just fine. The Standard American Diet is destroying us. 2/3 of Americans are actually overweight. If we don't begin to take nutrition seriously, this number will continue to rise. The opposite is true; when you eat appropriately the pounds will come off!

#3 Avoid Pharmaceuticals We are a society of quick fixes and masking our pains. When we feel pain, this is our body's way of letting us know something is not appropriate. Yet in many cases, instead of really listening to our bodies and finding the root of the issue, we take a pill. There are certainly instances where pharmaceuticals are necessary and appropriate. Drugs do not have to be the answer for most conditions.

#4 Supplement Your Diet We are unable to receive all the nutrients, herbs, vitamins and minerals we require for survival from food alone. The lack of proper nutrients in our diets is having a serious negative effect on our health and wellness. At minimal we should incorporate multi-vitamins/minerals and fish oils into our daily supplemental routine.

#5 Exercise Regularly You've heard this before. Move it lose it. Exercise keeps our hearts pumping and our skin firm. If you don't exercise your body will not work at its optimum level.

#6 Get Proper Rest Sleep is important. It's just as important as the other steps to wellness. Sleeping is how we rejuvenate our bodies. In addition to practicing our mental fitness and steps to wellness, we must always be willing to laugh, take deep breathes, smell the flowers and enjoy life.

How to Improve Attention to Detail
By Trevor Johnson
One way that can set you apart from everyone else at work is an attention to detail. This is something that is used in every industry and is something that very few people ever perfect or work on. If you learn how to improve attention to detail, you will find that not only is your boss thankful, but you will also probably rise up the tanks much quicker than your co-workers.

Now if you think this is limited to certain professions, think again. Take a basic job like a houseman in a hotel. These are the individuals that set up the banquet rooms and often start out working for minimum wage. How often have you walked into a room like this and noticed it wasn't vacuumed or the pens were not placed correctly?

Now this is an example of two people not paying attention to detail that can have incredible repercussions. First off, the houseman did not clean the room properly or put the pens down correctly. Second, when the manager checked the room and signed off on it, they were not paying attention to detail and missed these things and probably many more.

Now the client walks in and sees this and is absolutely furious. Not only do they notice the trash on the floor, but they also notice that the glasses have spots on them and the chairs are stained. They are so upset that they cancel their event and cancel all future contracts with this particular hotel.

Imagine having to explain to your boss that you are responsible for tens of thousands of dollars walking out the door. If you simply would have made a check list and followed it through the assignment, everything would have been checked and you would have noticed what was missing. Checklists are a key component to anyone that wants to improve attention to detail.

The other thing that you need to make sure you do is walk back out and come back in as the client. Would you be happy if you were paying for this product? Having those fresh eyes allows you to see things that you may normally miss. If you follow this routine, your attention to detail will improve and you will be the rising start in your company.

The Gift of Living in the Present
By Debra Wier
Are you living life in the present, crying over the past, or dreaming about the future?

Have you ever heard the quote, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today? Today is a gift. That's why we call it the present"?

The present or gift is now, the past and the future both reside in your mind. While it's certainly a great idea to visualize your future, it's counterproductive to spend too much time there. As for the past, there's certainly nothing wrong with taking a stroll down Memory Lane. However, it's wise to let go of that which no longer serves you and stop carrying the burden of the mistakes of your past. The past is gone and the future lives in your imagination.

We've all been guilty of not hearing the sound of opportunity knocking at one time or another. Maybe we just didn't recognize the opportunity at the time. It's the old shoulda, woulda, coulda. As for the future, taking action today is the best thing you can do to prevent you from worrying about tomorrow or having regrets. Worrying about the future is an exercise in futility. By not living in the present, we miss the beauty and joy of what's happening now.

One of my hobbies is photography, an enjoyable pursuit that allows us to capture today's images, which will become tomorrow's memories. However, artistic photography is much more than a means by which to record history, it's a true art medium.

Photography is a subtractive art form in that the photographer begins with the entire world and must selectively extract the elements that portray the essence of a place or subject. I photograph images that intrigue me on an emotional or artistic level and then do my best to capture and highlight the intrinsic charm of that magical moment.

The ability to suspend and preserve fragments in time is one of the reasons I love photography. The other is the art of seeing. It requires me to be totally in the moment, cognizant of these magnificent vignettes of everyday life. The world is my canvas and I feel privileged to share my vision of this fascinating planet with others.

Being in the moment allows you to focus on what's in front of you. Many people go through life in a trance and don't stop to take the time to live in the moment. They're going though the motions as if they're on autopilot. Some people also tend to think that by multi-tasking they're accomplishing more, when they're really not giving either task 100% of their focus.

Once I visited a physician who asked me to explain the reason for my visit. In the middle of my explanation, he began reading my chart. Not only did I find this to be quite rude, it was also quite inefficient as it's very difficult to read and listen at the same time. Notice I said I visited this physician "once"!

Think about the instances when you've been so engrossed in something that you totally lost track of time; it could be a hobby, a book, a movie, dinner with a friend, or anything you love doing. That's called living in the moment. When you're living in the moment you're living in the present. If you're not living in the present, you aren't enjoying the gift of today and the world of may never discover the gifts you might have contributed.

Inspiring the Leader in You

This article is for the leader in you. I invite you to take a moment and reconnect with what is precious to you. For who you are as a person is who you are as a leader. And our world needs inspired leaders now. So here's an easy heart-centered way to calm, inspire, and balance yourself. Practice it as often as you like. Enjoy your renewed sense of confidence, poise and grace.

Quick Coherence Practice - HeartMath Technique

3 Simple Steps:

1. Focus your attention in the center of your chest in the area of your heart.
2. Breathe naturally and normally, just a little deeper than you normally do. Feel your breath as if it's coming in and out of the center of your heart.
3. Maintain your heart focus and heart breathing and feel a positive emotion. Focus on something you appreciate in your life. Feel the love you have for someone who is dear to you. Continue your heart focus and heart breathing as you feel...the love or care you have for someone else, or your feelings of appreciation for the good things in your life, or your feelings when you feel satisfied.

Notice how your heart-centered feelings bring you effortlessly into the present moment. As you practice this technique, add an extra step that shares your positive emotions - your inspiration - with the world.

It's easy! After step 3, maintain the positive emotion you feel. Radiate that feeling outwards. Radiate it to the people in Italy whose lives have been turned upside down and who are feeling a deep sense of loss. Radiate your positive feelings to them for about a minute. This heart caring and focus can help ease their emotional trauma because in the field of consciousness we are all one - connected.

Find out more about how this works and the scientific research in which HeartMath has been engaged for 18 years. HeartMath's most ambitious and phenomenal global project yet is the Global Coherence Initiative.

Using Stories For the Unconscious Mind - Calico Cat and the Waterworks
By Edward Leyton M.D.
Once upon a time, far away, there was a place called Watertown. In Watertown all the people lived on water. Everyone, including the most important people, needed water to survive during the day. There was a special person named Elmira who was responsible for getting the water during the day so all the people would have enough to drink. This would give them lots of energy during the day to carry out all their duties properly. At night-time all the water was stored in a big tank, which had pipes coming from it to let any extra water out. If there was more water than was needed by the townspeople during the day, then Elmira could let the water out through the pipes, and it went into a special place.

All of a sudden, one night while Elmira was sleeping, the valves on the pipes started to breakdown, and water began to leak out. When Elmira woke up there was water all over the place and none in the tank! There was no water left for the townspeople, and they became very upset. As much as Elmira tried to gather enough water during the day, sure enough almost every night the water would leak out of the tank, and there would be none left for the townspeople the next day.

Since Elmira took her job very seriously, she knew she had to get help quickly. Now Elmira knew that the real expert in how the water got in and out of the tank was the Special Chief Master Engineer named Calico Cat. Calico Cat lived deep in the woods on the other side of town -- so off she set to find her. It was a long journey, because Calico Cat had retired, and even though she knew more about the waterworks than anyone else, she had long since decided to live in her house deep in the forest, and hardly spoke to anyone. At long last Elmira found Calico Cat. "What shall I do?" she said, "The water for the townspeople is leaking out at night, and there is no water left for them during the day." Calico Cat thought long and hard. Then she took out an old dusty book and began pawing through it, until at last she let out a big "Meow!! I have found it!". Calico Cat explained to Elmira that the valves needed fixing, and she told Elmira how to do it.

Elmira was so relieved. She trekked back through the forest, and worked along and hard through this very night to repair the valves. The next day she collected all the water she needed for the day to feed the townspeople, and put what was left over in the waterworks holding tank. Then she went to sleep easily and peacefully, knowing that she had completed her task. The next day she woke up and discovered that her plan had worked. The water had stayed in the tank all night long, and she had not lost a single drop! So the very next day she did not have to work so hard to collect more water, and she could let the townspeople have the water they need during the day, by opening the valves whenever she wanted. And best of all, she could go to sleep at night, knowing that she would not lose any water during the night.Once or twice she thought to herself that perhaps the valves might not work for very long, but days, weeks, and eventually months went by, and still the water stayed in the tank, and the townspeople had all the water they needed during the day.

They were so happy, there was much celebration in Watertown for many months to come. She was so thankful that she sent special message to Calico Cat to thank her for showing her how to stop the water from leaking out of the tank at night. Calico Cat purred with delight.

Stories have been told since humans began to talk. Their purpose can be everything from simple and light to meaningful and profound. Milton Erikson, probably the foremost medical hypnotherapist of our time, used metaphor or stories to access the unconscious mind in order to help people make changes in their behavior. Indeed, metaphor itself can often do just that. It seems to by-pass the conscious mind, even when the receiver is in a 'normal', non-hypnotized state.

As an integrative medical doctor I am always looking for ways to help patients that are more natural and non-toxic than some of the modern medical approaches. These stories were written with that in mind. The one above is for enuresis or bed wetting in children, but adults with incontinence have responded as well. The unconscious mind has no age barriers!

Read the story out loud to another person or to yourself. When you see the bold parts, emphasize these in the way you say them. Your unconscious will pick up the suggestion only if it is appropriate for you. The sit back and wait for the results!

The Average Consumer Can Apply These 4 Sales Techniques
By David Peve
These 4 sales skills or techniques are not just for sales people. I know not every one is a sales person and you don't have to be to improve your interpersonal effectiveness. What I mean, is every one possesses them already, they are the basic of sales techniques that the average consumer should learn and practice in their every day life. You can get more of what you want out of life by applying these positive skills.

I will start with Negotiate with Every One. Most people are afraid to to negotiate to improve their position in their every day life because they think it is only for lawyers, super sports agents, sales people, or maybe they think they are not any good at it. The best thing to do is practice how to negotiate in your every day life especially over the little things, this will give you confidence when the big purchases or events come along. Honing this skill, I believe, is the most important investment you can make toward improving your interpersonal effectiveness. Just use these 3 guidelines; One, Your objective is to meet in the middle - but on your side of the middle. Two, Remember to think of it as a kids game (this will help with #3) and have fun with it in a reasonable manner. Three, You have to remove your emotional involvement in what ever is the focus of your negotiations. Emotion always effects good judgement, and puts you at a disadvantage.

Next is Finding Common Ground. When you find common ground with people they will do anything and everything to help you. Sure, we all know that person that can make friends with anyone under any circumstance, but don't worry if that's not you. This is a skill because it can be learned - Not to be that type of person, but to get the things you want in similar ways. Here are 3 tips to applying this skill effectively; One, observe how they look. Clothing, surroundings, accessories, and how they carry themselves. Two, LISTEN - to how the talk, the words they use, etc. Three, Let Them DO THE TALKING -People love to talk about themselves. So by saying very little but encouraging a conversation, You will have made a new best friend that thinks your the nicest person in the world even though they don't know anything about you, but you will know plenty about them. Your new friend will assist you anyway they can.

This one might shock you - SMILING! Yes, it is a skill - people are absolutely more willing to help or take care of someone who is smiling, PERIOD! Compared to that person that looks like they want make your day worse, or that person with just an indifferent look about them. We have all heard, "You catch more flies with Honey"? Without a doubt! A simple well timed smile brings a little bit of joy to whomever you encounter. It's not easy to flash a genuine smile on cue or even wear one all day, with practice though you will see the positive effect it has on others, and more things will fall your way.

Finally, Make Eye Contact - Have you ever noticed how many people you pass by every day that can't, won't, or don't make even split second eye contact? Doesn't matter if it's a stranger (or people they know) on the street or at work. So how is this a skill? Many people have to train or force themselves to make eye contact. There are 2 things to be aware of here; Too Much eye contact can make you seem confrontational or creep people out. So when you find your comfort level it becomes an effective skill and cause others to pay attention to you, which in turn will help get what you need - done.

These 4 interpersonal skills when practiced will make your life easier. They will also save you time and money. We all like that, remember you already possess these skills you just have to practice by applying them through out your daily life.

David Peve has been a successful sales person for 18 years and counting, applying those skills in my every day life especially outside of work, so that my life is just that much easier.

Sales Skills are Survival Skills everyone can and should use. These skills will save you time, money, and peace of mind.
