Personal Integrity - Pathway to Success
By Dr. Raymond Comeau
Abraham Lincoln said, "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time." And William Shakespeare said, "Honesty is the best policy. If I lose mine honor, I lose myself."
These two giants knew what they were talking about and they were right in their assumption. Integrity which may be define as the quality of having a sense of honesty and truthfulness in regard to the motivations for one's actions is indeed the royal pathway to personal and professional success.
Personal integrity demands that we follow the path of our convictions and that we remain true to our values. It may not always be the shortest and easiest route but it is the only one that will prevail in the long run.
One of man's greatest asset is his word. It is sacred and, no matter what the circumstances are, it should not be placed in jeopardy. It is the basis upon which trust and confidence are built and it is the hallmark of a man of integrity.
We do live in a world where, for some, all that matters is the results and we have seen the effects of that shabby thinking. Giant corporations on the brinks of disaster and CEO's in dishonor or in jail.
A strong structure needs a solid foundation. So does a successful personal and professional life. The corner stones of that foundation are honesty and truthfulness. A lack of integrity may win a battle but chances are extremely high that it will lose the war.
Lasting success depends on long term thinking. It depends on quality thoughts, deeds and behavior. It depends as much on personal integrity as it does on efforts and quality planning.
When we look at the men and women who have positively affected the affairs of man, we see honor, truthfulness, courage and integrity. There are no exception to that rule. Great accomplishments are the results of quality individuals. People who had the essence of character and nobleness. Not of people who would lie for convenience or cut corners for expediency.
Our actions and the results of those actions are a reflection of who and what we are. We recognize a tree by it fruits. People of character will produce grand and worthy achievements and those of low moral will leave a trail of disaster and destruction.
There are no shortcuts to personal and professional success. It requires planning, efforts, focus, dedication and above all integrity. It is that personal integrity that will cement all those elements together. Without it, everything is bound to crumble sooner or later.
A person can be highly gifted and intelligent but without a strong moral core, all that is moot. When ambition and greed rule disaster is sure to ensue. A man without strong personal integrity is like a ship without a rudder. That person will be guided by whatever tide, current and wind that comes his way. Not only will he never reach port but he will also be a menace to anyone on his path.
To ever hope to enjoy both personal and professional success, an impressive bag of tools is necessary. Among these are desire, confidence, focus, talent, dedication and above all personal integrity with all that it entails. A person may build a great life without some of these tools... but it cannot be done without integrity.

Navigating Successfully - The Up and Down Trends of Life With An Activated Desire
By Joshua Clayton
In life and existence, you and anyone must creatively persevere to get what you genuinely want in every way. With that, I begin this message. Quite simply, navigating the realities of life is not a complex thing, it all starts off with a burning desire to do so and ends with accomplishment. This article is about what you and anyone have to navigate in between the start and the end, including the temporary failures, and successful upswings. Sure, what comes between the start and the finish is almost always involved and complex, but, it can always be handled when the desire to do so and "end well" is genuinely there. In fact, in this article the maxim I usually use that "we all love to win, but who loves to train" will be stretched out and fully explained here.
Sure, a burning desire to start out with must be in the mind and heart to do something, the energy to do it secondly must also be there. Indeed, that something which fully makes success takes more than this, that ability to genuinely navigate or creatively persevere must also be there. Meaning, if one thing does not work, you must change your approach, even if you do have to start again and again until you do get what you do want or succeed. If you do not have at least the desire to work like this no matter what until you do succeed, quitting is an "option". But if you really want it with all of your heart and soul, quitting is not an option, no matter how it may "look".
Right action is the end result of this kind of process of perseverance. It is ninety eight percent grit, work, perseverance, action and sweat, two percent thought out plan. Do not let the size of the thought out plan fool you though. First you come up with what you are going to do and then do it. Quick decision and then deliberated action when it takes that. In all of that is one hundred percent navigational skills to carry out the grit, work, perseverance, action, sweat and thought out plan. Yes, I am saying that practical success does take all of that even if it takes it over and over in different ways until you do reach the good end or succeed. When the desire is there, all failure is temporary failure, and new ways to do it are always an opportunity to succeed ultimately. In no uncertain terms is success an "option" when you have the full and genuine desire within you, it is a given, no matter what it may take.
Sure, this is a "winning is everything" article, I do admit to you fully and succinctly. But, the kind of winning I am talking about is that genuine winning that would be desirable to anyone who has a genuinely activated desire for genuine happiness within themselves. Sure, "foul" can be cried at the person who fails a seemingly ultimate failure and succeeds through this type of desire later, but can "foul" honestly be cried if the success happens even after seemingly ultimate failure? No, it cannot be honestly said, cried or otherwise, that is why I put the word foul in quotes.
A great self help philosopher of the twentieth century once took an expensive dictionary he bought by mail and clipped the word "impossible" out of it. I hope this article helps clips the sentence fragment "impossible to succeed" out of your mind, because everything is realistically possible if the desire is there and the time is taken to creatively persevere to a realistic solution to any problem. Because if the problem exists there is always a solution. The impossible is just a problem waiting to be solved by someone who knows it is possible because it exists as a problem with an ultimate solution. So, now you know what I mean by "navigating successfully the up and down trends of life with activated desire", and more, all that has to be done about anything realistically is to think, act and generate. Sure, the navigation and perseverance processes may seem more involved. But if at first you do not succeed, try again until you do. If there is a problem, there is always a solution. Always.
My name is Joshua Clayton, I am a freelance writer based in Inglewood, California. I also write under a few pen-names and aliases, but Joshua Clayton is my real name, and I write by that for the most part now. I am a philosophical writer and objective thinker and honest action taker.
I also work at a senior center in Gardena, California as my day job, among other things, but primarily I am a writer. As a kid I did construction work with my Dad which taught me many things like plumbing, hard labor and electrical systems, and I took notes for my Dad's home poker games at my Uncle Johnnie Gilmore's house, so I have a lot of life experience, sure. But I went to Cal State Dominguez Hills College, UCLA, and El Camino Junior College and learned a lot, but never got around to getting a degree, just lots of money spent, good grades and some credits. So, here I am currently freelance writing and working at a senior center for a living.
But enough details of my life, what I do is not what I am. So here is what I enjoy, I enjoy reading, listening to music (everything from Beetoven, Strauss and Bach to The Meters, ELO and The Band and Dylan/Garcia and The Grateful Dead also, when they were the Grateful Dead. Well, as you can tell by SOME of the music I listen to, I am a very eclectic person. I am also a deep science fiction fan and as said before, a lover of books. If I were to go into everything it would take thousands of words and I only have about three hundred words here, of which I have used 290 of already. Well, I end here. Thanks. Joshua Clayton.
