How to Overcome Emotional Stress Effectively

There are many types of stress but to me emotional stress is the hardest to overcome. I had to go through a very challenging emotional stress not long ago. It was a feeling of loosing total control of things happening around you. The only thing I can do was just cry. Crying is actually a good way to reduce emotional stress.
Inconsistent intake of medication has caused my dad's blood pressure to shoot up last year. My dad was then diagnosed of having brain aneurysm. It came as a surprised to the entire family as it happened overnight. My dad has never been admitted into the hospital before. Nobody knows what to do when we were informed about the sickness.
Everybody was very worried as aneurysm can lead to death. Although worried, we need to be strong for our dad. I remember having sleepless night and wake up crying every night. During that time, it looks impossible to find ways to overcome emotional stress.
Fortunately, the support and concern we had from our family and friends had helped us overcome the stress. We shared our opinions and suggestions about what to do next. Relatives helped out by taking turns to keep an eye on my dad.
We also seek faith and strength by doing some prayers and meditation. It calmed us down and this seems to reduce our worries. Although it helped to reduce our emotional stress, it will not end as long as doctor did not confirm the sickness is under control.
Since my dad has no other choice but to go through brain operation, the worries and uncertainties came back again. Everybody was worried and eagerly waiting for my dad to come out from the operation theater.
I had my first panic attack when surgeon declared the operation was not as successful as they planned. I was having difficulty in breathing, the room was spinning, palms sweating and luckily I knew some tips how to relieve panic attack. I would have been the first visitor to faint in the Intensive Care Unit.
Have you had the same experience like mine? How did you overcome it? If you like to know more tips about instant panic attack relieve, you can find it in http://www.panicawaytips.info
