Focus - The Art of Concentration & Creation?

Focus - The Art of Concentration & Creation?
By David Michael Martin
What does a person mean when they say "I'm Focused?"

l hear the word "focus" bandied around all the time.

Focus. That's the advice that I hear Coaches give to their athletes.
Focus. That's what I have heard teachers say to their students.
Focus. That's what successful business people say when someone asks them how they became successful.

"I just focused."

Even if you ask a successful athlete or business person, "what do you do to focus?" Or "how do you focus?" Some might answer that question by saying something like, I worked hard, I studying hard or I practiced a lot. Which at first glance, all seem to be fairly logical ways of answering that question?

But when you really think about it, those answers still leave a lot of unanswered questions like; you focused on what specifically, and how specifically, and how often, and for how long? The reality is that successful people, how ever you define success, have a tendency to focus in very specific ways.

Often they themselves are unaware of the mental and emotional processes, that they go though, that causes them to get the results that they want. So they can't necessarily describe it to someone else, other than using words like, Focus.

And unfortunately, that word is a less than adequate explanation for the very real wealth of what they actually do. And it can leave anyone trying to follow that advice feeling more than a little lost.

We can look at successful focused people, and from the outside looking in, they may seem untouchable, perhaps so far away from our present situation that it's paralyzing to those of us, who want what they seem to have.

Of course it might also be inspiring; looking at them, may be the very thing that gets you motivated and up out of your chair and into action.

People often ask me, do successful people ever have a bad day, do they ever worry, feel doubt or stuff up? The answer of course is YES! All human beings feel a full range of emotions, regardless of who they are, where they live or what's in their bank account. But there IS something that successful people do, that less successful people do not do... they focus in a very specific way.

The Good News

The good news is that, their results can be replicated, because today we understand the many secrets that were once locked inside that particular vault. When I'm talking about Focus, I'm talking about two specific areas:

The first one is their mental focus. When I say that, I'm not talking about intellect. I'm talking about the internal representations that they make to themselves; what they visualize, what they hear as they imagine that and how that makes them feel. Including what they expect and what they believe.

The second part is the practical application of that; the way they behave how they use their time and where they put their energy and attention.

The big secret in this regard is that everything that we value, think, feel or remember, are all made up of certain elements, much in the same way that a raging river is really made up of trillions of individual H2O molecules.

As a species we already understand water, both it's power and it's potential, and we freely redirect it into things as diverse as drinking water on the one hand, and nuclear energy on the other.

So in the same way that we can redirect and change the use of water, with training these mental elements can easily be redirected and changed as well. Freeing a person to achieve what ever is important to them.

Unlock & Open Your Door - The Key is Within You to Discover Your Answers
By Pamela Belle Skuse
Your thoughts, attitudes, feelings, perceptions and intentions are creative magnetic powers of energy and it creates your reflecting vibrations. So, how do your inner perceptions match up with what you are experiencing? How your energy is used, felt and directed is up to you. It is your choice to choose your perceptions and actions wisely to create the desires that you want.

E.g. Say that you want a loving relationship to occur, but something is not happening. One reason is the lack of dynamic flow in your life - if you fear loving someone again due to experiencing a past hurt, you may unconsciously repel the energy of love, because you may fear becoming involved and being hurt again. Or you may be dwelling upon a lack of love in your life, creating many festering bitter thoughts that nobody cares about you. You are cutting off the supply and the flow of the energy of love that can come to you, so you won't be able to accept or receive it. It is the same with all lacks including money. If you want love and at the same time you fear the 'what if's' of love, you are closing the door for love to come into your life. If you want more money and at the same time you contradict your desires by stating that inappropriate choices like - you can't afford something or you think that money is evil, you are closing the door on the energy flow of money to come in. Your doubts, fears, lacks and limits are like the shake-up boulder or rocks that are in the pathway of a flowing river. You are not flowing with the process of life, because your thoughts and feelings of the fearful boulders and rocks have dammed up your water stream, your energy flow. You are creating blocks and turmoil at that point and it stops the peaceful continuous movement to flow in and through you.

To address your issues, problems and challenges can be broken down into 3 main categories.

1. Energy Flows Through the Same Door
2. Love Comes From Within First
3. Your Key is Within You

Let's take a look at each individual category:

1. Energy Flows Through the Same Door - The energy flow of good and bad, love or hate and brave or fearful come through the same door. Energy is constantly moving so you need to accept all things as they are, i.e., the pain and bliss from every experience. If you want love and yet fear love you are closing the door for any love to come into your life. Humanity has an endless supply of energy of love and happiness within and many think that you have to get all your pleasure and love from the outside first. But it is the reverse.

2. Love Comes From Within First - You have to find love within yourself first, from your inner source, from accepting and loving yourself, so that reflecting energy can flow from the inside to the outside. The outer surface of anything will not bring happiness or fulfilment within. Love comes from your inner being first to accept yourself as you are, and to accept all the experiences that you have had, so that you can learn and grow. When your love comes from within first, you are a full vessel and you can give your fullest compassionate love to others unconditionally. If you seek love from the outside first, you only receive a bundle or troubles that come from conditional love and lust. Karmic based patterns won't last, because once you address and let go of old wounds, you begin to evolve and grow. You will step on a different path to your partner. If that union continues due to society's conditions, it becomes separated and tormented with conflict and wars by the demands and tags of non-acceptance, agendas and judgments.

3. Your Key Is Within You - You have the key to unlock your door, to open your door, to uncover hidden and unknown information and answers. The key to the door is you - you have the answers to what you are looking for. The key is found within you. You have the ability to unlock your door to discover the information, the answers and your truth. Don't look outside of yourself for validation and don't look outside your door for answers, as they are a truth of others. When you take on the truth of others beliefs, it becomes your lie. Unlock your inner door and live your authentic truth. Does your key fit into another person's door? No, it won't fit. When you try to fit your key into some else's door it won't work, and if you break and enter in through their door, you will only get their baggage and burdens found behind their limited closed fearful doors! You have the key to lock your door and to close your door. What do you choose?

Like all other energy your abundant energy can be dynamic and flowing easily or it can be stagnant or dead. Your attitude or perception is the key. It is the most important concept in allowing the flow of energy to be in motion. Positive thinking, visualization and affirming your desire to have love and abundance of any sort is a mental exercise and it is often different and contradicting to what you are really feeling. It is a type of 'fake it before you make it' scenario. That is why forced mental or physical activity doesn't work well. It is your energy, your deep-seated inner feelings that you are reflecting out of what you really believe that constantly tells your subconscious that there is plenty, that you are rich in abundance of any kind and will go about to create that desire. Even if you lack love, money or whatever now, there are many things that you can be grateful for to allow your energy to keep in with the universal flow. Opportunities and ideas may come to you, but you will have to sift through them. Discern which ones will just touch you so you can let go and move on. Know which ones you can dance with to create opportunities - it is part of the flowing process. Raise your ability to be within the flowing process, take action by moving energy, reach out, get out of your comfort zone and choose what you want to have in your life.

Build Your Commercial Acumen by Analyzing Simpler Business Models
By Simon Stapleton
Commercial skills are a prized personal asset in business. Those who possess these skills tend to be more pragmatic and successful in building their careers. But developing commercial skills and commercial acumen is not easy if you're not exposed to it. If you're not operating in commercial environments, then how can you develop these skills?

Change your job? Or learn yourself?

Try this approach instead: find a 'simple' industry and then think deeply about how a member turns profit from its business model.

Take a cafe, as an example.

A cafe is an example of a business with a simplistic business model. It makes profit from earning more money than it costs to provide food, beverages and associated products. But what is involved in running a cafe and how much does it cost?

There is more to it than might be obvious. Remember every business has had to invest in its startup, suffers from running costs and overheads, and must pay for product development and other innovations. As well as any 'real profit' its owners want to take out.

Cafes turn raw goods (ingredients, utilities and effort from people) into products their customers enjoy and pay for. It is a competitive environment - many cafes offer the same products at a similar price. Customers are price-sensitive, so they can be fickle. Competition isn't just about price though - many pride themselves on the quality of the end product, but also the quality of the raw ingredients and, especially now, the ethics of sourcing these ingredients from farmers in third-world countries. How do these factors impact the price and the attitudes of consumers?

Cafes require trained staff who can provide good service and produce quality products. Efficiency is a big factor (nobody wants to wait long for their cappuccino or sandwich), so staff training is important. How much does this cost, and how does it effect the price of the produce?

Think about premises: location is key. Passing trade is very important to cafes - if people don't see the cafe, they won't find it. But premier locations cost money. Lots of it. How is the cost of premises factored in the finances of the cafe? How many extra lattes need to be sold to recoup these costs?

It's fair to say even a simple business model like a cafe can be a complex business environment. Once you begin to peel away the layers of complexity, you can truly understand the commercial aspects of business. And understanding how businesses with simpler business models earn profit is a great way to learn how much larger, much more complex businesses ultimately pay their shareholders.
