The Importance of Goal Setting Software
By Victor Ghebre
Did you know that approximately 95% of people do not set goals for themselves and their future? One researcher who worked on a study that determined this data said it was funny that people spend more time planning vacations than they do the rest of their lives. The question is why do so few people create goals and how can goal setting software help you if you're in that majority.
Why Goals Are in Short Supply
There are a number of factors which might explain the lack of goal setting in the world today. First, people are busy. Thinking about and writing down goals does take time. If you're struggling with your job, your family commitments, and everything else life is throwing your way, you may not have time to sit down and write out a few goals.
Another reason is a lack of confidence. People who don't believe in themselves from the start are not going to write goals about what they can achieve. If you have trouble putting your goals in writing, this might be part of the reason.
Setting More Goals
Goal setting software can be useful if it makes goal setting easier and faster. We still may have to think long and hard about what we want to accomplish and how far our abilities can take us but the software might be able to help us get those goals in writing faster. After all, most of us don't have an easy time putting pen to paper.
The software can also help by giving examples, formats, and explanations about how goal setting works and what your goals should look like if they are going to benefit you.
Improving Confidence
Unfortunately, goal setting software cannot help you feel better about yourself or about your future. Imagine one of your goals for a moment. Think about achieving it. What does the inner voice tell you? If the voice is discouraging, you'll have a hard time writing your goals. Some people even feel silly writing these things down because they feel it's a waste of time because they can't accomplish anything.
One way to start changing that mindset is through positive affirmations. By changing the voice in your mind, you can literally change your perception of yourself and become more optimistic about your future. For example, you might say "I can achieve my goal of starting my own dental practice in the next 10 years" any time you hear that negative inner voice trying to discourage you.
Using the Goals
Setting goals does not automatically guarantee your success. You have to use those goals as a guide for your choices and actions. If you want to become the CEO of the company and that's a big goal, then you have short term goals that will help you get promoted one level at a time. And you follow those goals. Working towards your goal is important and necessary if you hope to achieve it.

Goal Setting Forms and Four Tips to Make Them Work
By Victor Ghebre
Right now, the Internet is a great place to go if you're interested in anything related to goals. For example, a number of sites offer some great goal setting forms that can help you write down (or type up) the achievements you'd like to have in your life. These forms give us some much needed structure when it comes to preparing our goals. Before you start brainstorming your future, here are a couple of tips to help you make the most of these useful tools.
Be Optimistic but Realistic
If you want to be a good goal setter, you have to walk the fine line between optimism and realism. Basically, you also want to be hoping for the best but planning for the worst if you're going to be successful. Unfortunately, too many of us end up falling on one end of the spectrum or the other. We're either too pessimistic to write goals at all or too dreamy to write goals we have any chance of obtaining.
Be Emotional about Goals
When you do start writing down your goals with these goal setting forms, don't take the activity lightly. This is not a "What I Did Over the Summer" school assignment that can be blown off and forgotten once it's finished. Instead, these goals should have meaning for you because they represent the path you want your life to take. And if you're serious about reaching whatever is at the end of your goals, you have to take them seriously. If you don't, they won't be any more useful to you than a New Year's resolution on January 3rd.
Repeat Your Goals
Following your goals should ideally become a habit - something you do without even thinking about it. But this type of automatic behavior doesn't happen overnight. To reach that level, research has shown you need repetition.
When you write down a goal, your conscious mind is in charge and is doing all of the thinking. What you want, however, is for that goal to become part of your unconscious mind like driving a car or riding a bicycle. The best way to make this happen is through repetition. Make a habit of repeating your goals to yourself at least five times a day.
Reward Yourself
You have your completed goal setting forms and now you have successfully obtained one of them. What do you do next? Well, you'll start working on the next goal for starters. But that's not all. You should also take a moment (or more) to congratulate yourself on a job well done. This is going to motivate you to keep working harder to achieve the next goals. How you congratulate yourself is up to you but make sure it's something special that you enjoy.
Also, it doesn't hurt to have a ritual for goal achievement. For example, before you cross the goal off the list, you might have a glass of wine.

Goal Setting Activities That You Should Know
By Victor Ghebre
Throughout you life you have set and achieved goals. As a baby your goal was to walk. As a child your goal was to ride a bicycle and as a teenager your goal was to graduate high school. Most of these goals were achieved with the help of parents, friends, or teachers. Now that you are out on your own it is up to you to achieve your goals. Buy following these few goal setting activities you will achieve success.
The Picture of Success
Find a picture of your final goal. If your goal is to become a top executive find a picture of a businessperson you would like to emulate. If your goal is to own a big house then find a picture of your dream house. If your goal is to increase your self-esteem find a picture of an activity that exudes confidence and pride. Place this picture on your bathroom mirror so you see it every morning as you get ready for the day. This will be your daily reminder of the goal you seek to achieve.
The Lists
The next of your goal setting activities is to make two lists. Write these lists on a chalk board or white board that can be erased easily. On the left list your long time goals. Be it losing weight, getting an "A" in Chemistry or getting a promotion by the end of the year. On the right make a list of 3-5 interim goals you need to achieve the following day that will move you to your final goal. Each day try and achieve these goals. Do not get discouraged if you fail to achieve all your daily goals. Simply keep the unfinished goals on the board for the next day.
The Reward
The third list you want to make is a list of interim goals. These interim goals are fairly large milestones on the way to your final goal. As each of these interim goals is achieved plan a celebration. Throw a party, take a vacation, spend the day at the spa or go to the baseball game. Plan on including a friend or loved one as part of reward as this will make your reward all the more worthwhile and fun. It does not matter what reward you choose; it just must be extra special and very enjoyable.
The Team
To achieve your goals it is best to assemble a support team. Select a few friends and family and a mentor who has achieved your goal. Let your loved ones know what your goal is. Tell them their job is to help you stay positive and motivated. Your mentor is there to offer advice and guide you towards your goal. The mentor's job is to help you stay on track and make the right choice that will lead to success. By following these few goal setting activities you will quickly achieve success.

Goal Setting - 5 Keys to Hitting Your Goals
By Anthony D Carter
"Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve." ~ Napoleon Hill
The best way to obtain your burning desire is through the use of goal setting. Once you have set your goal you can then use these 5 keys to hit it.
1. Dream-You must have a big dream. Your dream should motivate you. It should drive you to do more than you ever dreamed possible. When your dream is big enough the facts don't count. Your dream will push you to find the answers. It will cause you to stretch beyond current comfort zone. You will find yourself doing whatever it takes to get your dream. When setting your goals be sure that you are pursuing a big aspiration.
2. Plan- Develop a good plan. Solid planning gives you the most direct route to your goal. This eliminates wasted effort. With a good plan you will avoid unnecessary confusion and delays. Your plan will allow you to focus on the work with the confidence in knowing that what you are doing is going to give you exactly what you want.
3. Remember- No matter what is going on around you remember why you are striving to hit this goal. Sometimes when we are in the midst of struggles we tend to only focus on the problems. Keep your attention placed on the reasons why you want to successfully hit this goal. Remember why it mattered so much to you in the beginning.
4. Work- If you don't do the work you will never hit your goals. Work is the currency that you exchange for what you desire. Work consistently. Do not take large amounts of time off from working towards hitting your goals. Consistency will protect you from worry indecision and procrastination. A solid work ethic is a vital component of successful goal achievement.
5. Persistence- Remain steady in good times and bad. Even when your work does not appear to be yielding any apparent results persist anyway. You have a solid plan and as you work your plan consistently over time the effort will eventually yield the positive results. Here is a good example of what I mean by persistence paying off. When we first begin to work out on a regular basis our muscles get sore but we see no immediate positive results. After two or three weeks we see no changes in our physical appearance when we look in the mirror. Yet if we keep diligently working we begin to see noticeable changes around the six week mark. And after six months the results are impressive. You have to persist. Work at it until you hit your goal. Don't quit. The results that you desire take time to manifest.
