Reinvention is a Process, Not a Destination

Reinvention is a Process, Not a Destination
By Donna L. Johnson
I had the privilege of speaking to a large group of unemployed professionals recently and the talk was centered around reinvention. The message I delivered to my audience resonated with them because I immediately opened up and shared my personal story - a story that closely mirrored their current situation. I talked about being laid off twice within one year (to no fault of my own) and the uncertainty I felt when I didn't have a job. But despite those things, I looked at that time in my life as an opportunity to follow my dreams. From that point on I realized that we must adapt a mindset of renewal.

renew (v): to repeat so as to reaffirm; revive; to replenish; to bring into being again, reestablish; to start over.

I have gifts and talents that are meant to be shared with all who desire to reach their greatness and live out their missions. It is my resilience that has kept me going. You see, it's not the obstacles or challenges we face that keep us from succeeding. It's our inability or unwillingness to learn from those things that allow us to be defeated.

resilience (adj): the ability to recover quickly from illness, change, or misfortune.

You have to decide what it is that you want - clearly and vividly. Once you know what that looks like, you then have to get up and take the necessary actions to get you there. Focus on the actions that get you the results you want and follow those steps every single time you find yourself stuck or immobile. Start your journey knowing that you may not have all the answers and you may have to change direction along the way, but commit to not giving up. Let each experience, both good and bad, serve as a lesson to prepare you for what's to come.

Reinvention is a never ending process. It's the daily, on-going pursuit of personal growth and fulfillment - a path that ultimately leads to more rewards and greater responsibilities.

Theory and Application of Goal Setting
By Robert B Vance
As an element of the general business planning process, goal setting is naturally fundamental in providing a clear vision of what you need to do.

Setting a number of goals appears to be an easy process. You create a particular goal, one that is quantifiable and has an outlined time period for completion. You implement your intention, measure your progress towards reaching your goal and then judge the outcome objectively to refine your process. On the outside of things, it reads well and sounds simple sufficient to do. Sadly , it hardly ever works out that way for many reasons; essentially as we frequently fail to build practical goals. In addition, we frequently casually set goals with only a misty view towards how they will basically be accomplished.

And whilst we are sometimes galvanized at the start of the method, it is not at all unusual to lose our inducement somewhere along the way. When preparing your own goals, it is important to first understand that each goal you set must be pragmatic and readily achievable, given a suitable period of time and resources. As an example, setting a goal to earn $25,000 every month inside 3 months, when your present revenues are less than $1,000, is possibly impractical. On the other hand, setting a continual goal to raise your revenues by five or ten percent every month isn't just pragmatic, but much more likely to be achievable. Once you have outlined a goal you think you can do, the subsequent step is to wreck it down into smaller, controllable jobs and scheduling them in sequence (assuming one task relies on the completion of another). Before outlining the target date the goal must be finished, be sure that each task is given a fair period of time for completion and permit the total of the jobs to outline the completion date, instead of randomly selecting one.

Depending on how far into the future your goals are planned for, it's extremely useful to schedule regular progress reviews, even if you are the sole one concerned. For instance, scheduling time each Fri. afternoon to check your progress and make any mandatory adjustments will keep your goals current. Do not be stunned if something surprising meddles with your scheduling from time-to-time. That is standard and you will simply need to spot some way to compensate for it.

Another synthetic barrier to really meeting your goals is the method itself.

Take care to duck pushing through a goal management process that consumes more time than the goal itself. On a smaller scale, a straightforward spreadsheet will most likely suffice to meet your management wishes. For bigger scale management, a selection of goal management software exists, sometimes scalable for most setups. Except for essentially working the method towards eventually realizing your goal, the final step is to take a while to size up the overall process and your performance at the end. This could be done objectively and welcomed as a learning opportunity, one which will help you to boost your performance next time. With careful planning, setting pragmatic goals can only be of benefit to you and your business in time, particularly if you streamline the goal management process for yourself. If you think about it as a developing process centered continual performance improvement, over time you'll see a measurable improvement in everything you do!

Hit Your Goals With These 3 Tips
By Anthony D Carter
When you set your goals in the proper way they should propel you forward everyday. Here are three tips that will help you hit your goals.

1-Pick meaningful goals. The more that they matter to you the more enthused you will be about hitting them. Your desire makes a huge difference. It is your desire which fuels your efforts when the going gets tough. You should have a goal that means enough to you that you will do the work for as long as it takes to get what you want. If what you want is worth having then it's worth fighting for. When you pick meaningful goals you increase your chances of hitting them.

2-Keep your goal on your mind. When we fail to hit our goals it is usually the result of our lack of focus. You need to find ways to keep your mind focused on your objective. One of the best ways to do so is to write your goals down where you can see them regularly. Keeping your goals in front of you makes it easier to keep them on your mind as you make decisions throughout the day.

3-Stay positive. If you maintain a positive attitude you will recognize opportunities. When you are negative or worried you tend to focus on what can go wrong. That mindset becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. When you expect negative that is what you get more of. Keep your thoughts centered on the successful completion of your goal. That way you are able to take any situation and use it to help you hit your goal.

Pursuing Your Goals
By Bryan Appleton
Even though many people know just how important it is to set goals in their lives and that successful people are much more likely to be working on an active list of personal goals that they may have at any given time, very few people will actually pursue the goal that they may have.

Why is this and what can you do to make sure that you stay committed to yourself and to pursuing what it is that you really want?

Your motivation is a key to actually achieving whatever desires that you may have. If you are not personally motivated by the dream that you are in pursuit of, it will be far too easy for you to just give up when the going gets a little bit tough.

MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE COMMITTED TO YOURSELF...

Think about it as signing an agreement with yourself, one that cannot be broken. You would not sign for a loan for a car and immediately give up on paying for that car, so treat yourself as you would someone else. Stay committed to yourself and to whatever it is that you want. Many times it will seem like the goal that we have is unachievable right before we are about to actually make those goals become our reality. Do not give up on yourself or your dreams too soon.

The more motivated and committed that you are to achieving whatever it is that you want, the more likely it is that you will be able to actually achieve that goal or goals that you are pursuing.
