Stress and Relaxation Are Like Night and Day
By Trevor Johnson
Stress and relaxation are like night and day. They are complete opposites. A person can not be in a constant state of stress and still be relaxed. This will require some motivation and effort on the part of the stressed individual.
Now your probably thinking "great, I am stressed, so now I have more work to do". This is different. This "work" is just for you. It is good for you, and it will make you feel better.
When under stress for extended periods of time, people develop symptoms which if left unattended may become serious health issues. These symptoms may begin as headaches and poor concentration. They can develop into phobias and even full blown anxiety disorders. It is important to get these symptoms and your stress under control.
Relaxation is quite difficult for some people to achieve. Many continue to worry about what else they need to do, or what task they will complete next. We have all heard of the "working" vacation.
Your mind needs to have total rest from the stressful events of the day. Not just in the form of a good night's sleep. Although this is a good start. Eating a healthy, well balanced diet is also important.
Everyone has heard by now of the importance that regular exercise plays in maintaining good health. What many do not seem to realize is that it is also a perfect way to release stress. All of the negative energy that your body has stored up is easily and naturally released when you exercise. This will also release endorphins which are a natural stress reliever. Do you self a favor, and exercise even just a little bit every day.
Yoga and meditation are also great methods of stress relief. Yoga allows you to discipline your mind and body. This requires deep concentration. This deep concentration leaves little room for thoughts which invoke stress to creep into your mind, while exercising your bodies muscles and naturally reducing stress.
Meditation allows you to free your mind from all negative thoughts and ideas while replacing them with positive, happy ones.
Take the time to relax and reduce as much stress as you can from your body. You will be happier and healthier. You will thank yourself for it.

The Ten Minute Cure For Stress
By Trevor Johnson
You can eliminate stress with a simple ten minute cure. Indeed, there is more than one ten minute cure you can try. Keep stress at bay by selecting one of the two ten minute cures recommended here. Take ten minutes to do it everyday or applying it anytime stress threatens to overwhelm you.
The first ten minute cure for stress is a breathing exercise. Find a quiet place and sit in an upright chair. Keep you body in an upright position with your back in line with the back of the chair but not leaning on it. Your legs should be slightly apart with your feet flat on the floor pointing forwards. Put you hands palms down on your knees and close your eyes.
Once you are in the recommended position then you can start the ten minute cure breathing technique. Draw a deep breath into the centre of your belly. Allow your belly to extend out with the breath and hold it there. Count to ten. Slowly release the breath and let your belly return back to normal. Hold your breath again and count to ten. As you breathe visualize yourself in a serene place such as a deserted beach. Repeat the breaths for ten minutes. You will find that all your stress melts away.
The second ten minute cure is music. You will need to find a place where you won't disturb anyone to apply this cure. Play some of your favourite music at a volume loud enough for you to fully appreciate it. Ideally, it should be songs in which you know all the words to. Sing along with the music and you will feel your stress dissipate as you participate in the music. Do this for ten minutes. If you favourite music is instrumental, you can pretend to play an instrument along with the music or be the conductor. Any of these will help to relieve stress.

The Toll of "Tech" Stress
By Mariposa Karamoz
In today's world stress takes it's toll on all of us in some way or form. The emotional and social impacts of stress on your body can affect your body and productivity in many negative ways. New workplace demands and technological advances leave North Americans confused and create a high level of unnecessary stress in our lives.
Technological advances and the media's constant pressure to buy products is exhausting and stressful for the average person. The media's nonstop advertisement of new cell phones, laptops I-pods and more is puzzling to many as there are so many different products to choose from. The level of technology is varies throughout all of these products making it difficult to discover which is really best. Internet access used to be basic and much easier to understand but as advances continue to happen such as B2B and B2C firms the amount of online advertising has greatly increased. Due to the amount of constant technological innovation people struggle to keep up and stay "connected" with new forms and changes. Once the media has gotten you "hooked" on some form of technology, addictions begin. One becomes dependent on the daily flow of technology in your life to function on a day-to day basis. Malfunctions and loss of technology do occur and when they do they can cause great stress.
New workplace demands created by technological advances have greatly increased stress levels in the North American society. In today's society the workplace demands competence in technology. An individual must be able to understand how to use and be comfortable with different forms of technology. Stress is very common especially from not knowing what to do or how. Often times you are expected to learn how to use the technology at a fast pace, but what if you can't keep up with the new and changing environment? The overwhelming stress of not being able to keep up with your colleagues may get you feeling worried and scared. In addition extra daily stresses from computer malfunction fears may top it off. Adding to the additional stresses of not keeping up may get worse once you realize the amount of information you have to work with is seemingly never ending.
There are ways to avoid "tech stress" such as physical exercise, forms of relaxation and healthy nutrition. From the media to the workplace, to the constantly changing advancements it's very hard not to get overwhelmed with today's new technological world. Learning to cope in your own way always best prepares you for future problems.

Stress - Five Ways to Alleviate It
By Flora M. Brown, Ph.D.
Exposure to stress is something we all have in common. When we try to control what's outside our control, stress results.
If managing the day to day operations of your personal life is not enough, add overseeing your employees or following the wishes of your boss, dealing with suppliers or pleasing customers, patients, guests and coworkers. If your stress remains unchecked you have a formula for destruction to your nerves, blood pressure and general health.
Ignoring stress or pretending you're not vulnerable makes you the perfect unprotected target for a stress-related breakdown. To avoid becoming disabled by stress become proactive.
There are five things you can do.
1. Start your day in a relaxed state by getting plenty sleep. This differs for each of us, but many experts seem to think that about six to eight hours is average. If you suspect that you have a sleeping disorder, investigate it with your doctor or a sleep professional.
2. Break up your day to allow for relaxation. For some this means listening to your favorite soothing music midday or meditating. Working nonstop is overrated. Take a relaxation break to facilitate the transition between work and home at the end of the day.
3. Make your commute a positive experience. If you drive to work, avoid listening to the news and listen to your favorite music, a recording of a book or an inspirational talk. Also, if possible leave early enough to take a calmer scenic route rather than a congested freeway.
4. Exercise. Many think of exercise as important just for weight loss and physical health, but its equally essential for mental well-being Don't wait until you think you have time to go to a gym or buy a treadmill. Walk around your block at least 3 times a day, or around your neighborhood at least 3 times a week.
If you can't manage that, surely you can get up and walk around the house during TV commercials. Dance around your house to spirited music. Sing your favorite song loud and dramatically. Play in a nearby park on the swing or sliding board. Take your dog for a walk. What's important is to move. You don't have to be marathoner to experience the benefits of endorphins. Use it or lose it holds true with your body and mind.
5. Put things in perspective. We are good at making ourselves stressed by dwelling on every problem. If your kitchen sink is leaking, for example, that's a fact. Choosing how to react to it is a choice. You can scream obscenities at the sink, at your luck, at the evil spirits, but I assure your sink when still be leaking when you finish all that. Instead of reacting to every problem as if it's the end of the world, take a deep breath and take action toward solving the problem. If, however, your house is on fire, omit the obscenities and take quick action. Leave the house first, then call the Fire Department even if you think you want to attempt to put it out yourself. The more urgent a problem, the more critical it is to take action rather than engage in a few choruses of "woe is me."
When we acknowledge that we can't control everything and accept that stress is a part of life, we can make choices that reduce and alleviate it.

Emotional Stress - Emotional Awareness is a Key to Empowerment
By Valencia Ray MD
Emotional awareness and empowerment are connected in that feelings are the fuel that drives thoughts. What I mean is, while thought is important, the emotional perception attached to the thought makes all of the difference as far as the energy that you put out into the Universe as a "vibe".
This matters to your health in terms of the stress that people are feeling now due to the turmoil that is going on in our economy. I am hearing more and more about "stress" and how people are worried about their security.
I've read articles where even people who are employed and are not under imminent threat of losing anything are also experiencing increased depression and anxiety. The issue here is that most people believe that the external environment is causing them to feel fearful or powerless.
We are conditioned to believe that life is happening to us. Actually, we are, by the power of our own perception, creating the anxiety and this anxiety can actually contribute to our experience of life. True, there are issues going on in the economy, but that does not in and of itself cause your ulcer.
It is your fear, your perception of perceived threat, which is triggering your nervous system to react in the "fight, flight or freeze" response. Everyone is not responding the same way. I know I am not. I live here in the United States as well.
I am fortunate enough to have taken the time and made it my business to understand my own mind over the past decade. I used to be an overwhelmed, stress-out professional, but I pursued the "secrets of the Universe", and I have found them in essence.
One principle that is certainly true is this: "be it unto you as you believe". This is an ancient proverb that Quantum Physics and brain research in general is proving. It is not "religious"; it is not "woo-woo". The fact is, it is how you think and feel that creates your life experience.
What you truly believe in your heart, meaning you expect and feel it, will ultimately become your reality. In order to expand in authentic empowerment, you must learn to manage your thoughts and feelings consciously, and how to release negative energy from your human bio-magnetic field.
This energy is stored in the form of feelings that are trapped in your body at a cellular level. Long-term memory is stored in the body. This is fact, not opinion. Until you make the time to update your knowledge with current information, Spirit, Mind and Body, you will be at the whim of negative media and the people around you predicting doom and gloom.
Life does not have to be lived this way. I see our current chaos as an opportunity for us to create a new paradigm that empowers the individual to live their best life, a life that is consciously co-created for the highest good of all concerned. Empowerment is an inside job!
