What Controls Our Lives?
By Keith A. Price
Our life is made up of a series of actions. Our habitual actions have the greatest influence on the results we experience. So, what controls our action? Much of what I've studied suggests that our thoughts control our actions, and thus control our lives.
I once read a quote that impressed me: "I can tell you about the quality of a man by the quality of his thoughts when he doesn't have to think." (Actually, I think I'm paraphrasing, there. And, I don't know who to attribute the quote to.)
I like that. Our thoughts -- when we don't HAVE to think -- are indicators of what our lives are or will become.
Now, here's a few traditional ideas about how to control our thoughts. And, then I'll follow that up with something a bit more radical.
* Practice directing your thoughts with ideas that expand you as a person.
* Think of desirable traits of a person or persons you most admire.
* Imagine what your life would be like if those traits were habitual for you.
* Set motivating and uplifting goals.
* Think about those goals as often as possible.
* Mediate on and choose an overall purpose for your life -- why you are here.
* Fill your mind with thoughts and ideas consistent with that purpose.
If you've been studying success for even a short while, you've probably been taught these things, already. Did it work? I'm guessing the results were sporadic -- good at first, and then winding down to a near stop.
So, here's the more radical idea. It begins with this question: What controls our thoughts?
Well, WE can consciously control our thoughts with the ideas listed, above. But, it seems to me that's a bit like holding a dumbbell weight out in front of you. You can do it for a while, but before long, you're going to get tired and you'll have to put it down.
What really controls our thoughts -- long term and without effort -- is our emotions. How we feel greatly influences how and what we think.
Which finally leads us to the REAL question: How do we control our emotions?
I'll save that for my next article.

Are you happy about your life, your job, your relationship? Do you wake up in the morning feeling excited for the day ahead? Or do you hit the snooze button a dozen times before you finally drag yourself out of bed with a lousy attitude?
In life, most people tend to do what they hate, instead of what they love!
Let's stop for a second to consider this statement...
As you look around your general society today. Many people are unhappy, and what's even worse, they do things that don't really fulfill them. They are, at least, dissatisfied with the quality of their lives, or want more, but have no clue how to get it.
But why is this?
For the most part it's either three of the following reasons.
A: You don't think you deserve to live the life of your dreams.
B: You are too afraid to start creating the life of your dreams!
C: You don't even think it's possible to create the life of your dreams!
Let's go into the first crucial step you MUST take before you can begin the process of living a better quality of life. And that is, "You must FIRST become aware that YOU ARE NOT living the quality of life you deserve right now!" YES! God did not put you here to be miserable, but there are alot of miserable people out there who don't even know it yet.
Instead of ignoring yourself though, start becoming aware of your REAL desires and start respecting yourself by doing that right now! This will start the process of growth! The fact that you are becoming aware of your desires, is already self-respect within itself! Because you are finally beginning to acknowledge who you are and who you really want to become for the future.
We all have set-backs and frustrations. And I'm sure you also have goals and dreams - something more that you aspire to be in your life! Instead of being a spectator at a boring football game that you don't like, get up off your ass and start becoming one of the active players in your life, who plays the active role and makes a significant difference to the game...
The FIRST step is to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for the quality of your life, because nobody else will do it for you!
Once you take time to uphold yourself in this uplifting fashion, you will demonstrate for yourself true deserving and personal power. Because your life becomes set by your OWN rules, not anybody else's! This is how you can start doing what you love in life, instead of what you hate!
If your ready to gain the personal power to start achieving your dreams right now, grab the confidence CD while it's still available at this special low price.

The Art of Quitting in Anything to Succeed
By Joshua Uebergang
Some relationships, markets, habits, whatever, are destined for failure. They are not worth your energy to succeed in. When the return is not worth the expense, do not invest in pursuing failures. Financial investors never make an investment knowing a return is less than the cost. They are the situations I want you to quit. The trick is being able to measure the required costs and expected returns.
Probably the best technique to identify when to quit is experience. I know you have experienced many highs-and-lows in life. Use them to your advantage. These experiences form your intuition, gut-feelings, second-nature, sixth-sense, or whatever you want to call it. You can sense when something is not going to work out. Unfortunately, with this technique you need to have experienced failures in a similar situation to your current circumstance.
Here's another technique to identify a failure. Let's say the problem is an argumentative co-worker. You wonder why a certain co-worker continually argues with you. After looking into yourself to see if you are doing something bad, such as poorly communicating, you can project this "bad" co-worker onto a co-worker that you get along with well. Identify what is different about this person. Visualize what characteristics make the situation a failure onto the successful situation, then see what similarities and differences exist.
Act on your new knowledge by adapting to what you learned. The adapting persons and animals survive and thrive while the stubborn persist and resist. The 1925 Nobel Prize winner in literature, known for his playwriting, George Bernard Shaw said, "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself."
One other technique you can use is to consult a mentor, talk to friends and family, or ask an expert in the problematic field. By talking to other people you overcome your perceptions and beliefs that filter reality. Other people can see what you cannot and potentially bring new knowledge to solve the problem.
If you see nothing in yourself that can be changed to succeed, and the situation continues to fail, it is okay to give up and let it go. In business, some markets will always be unprofitable. In relationships, some people will always be a pain to live with. Become a quitter and win!
I'm a firm believer in persistence. To go anywhere and become the person you want to be, you need persistence. You need the will to overcome the many obstacles and barriers you face. However, Anthony J. D'Angelo was quoted in saying, "Never let your persistence and passion turn into stubbornness and ignorance."
Don't make the mistake of giving up out of weakness, having a lack of desire, being lazy, acting stubborn, or not possessing the skills to handle the situation. Be strong, be smart. Identify the failures and learn from them to succeed.
I give you permission to relinquish the failing situations in your life. Stop dragging an anchor in your life that holds you back. Quitters can be losers; but the smart quitters win. Learn to quit and you will learn to win.
