Four "Easy" Steps to Success
By JoAnn Dueno
Often in my coaching sessions I hear people say they "want" or "hope" to be successful. What I don't always see are the steps that it takes to achieve that success. It is simply in the mind set, whether you are looking to achieve, success in your own business venture, overcoming a fear, getting into better physical shape, eating better, learning a new craft or skill, there a couple key elements, that need to be in place in order for SUCCESS to occur.
#1 Decision - One must make that UP FRONT decision that he or she is ready to move towards their goals, dreams and desires. Small or large, your goals must be set clearly in your mind and your decision to achieve them, must have a no turning back attitude.
#2 Commitment - The commitment is as crucial as the decision, because a decision is just a thought until you take action and apply yourself to achieve the goal. Commitment is not just a bunch of empty words, it is again, a no turning back, forward motion towards the goal. A great example of commitment is in a marriage. It is the commitment that keeps people together.
Seriously! Believe me, I can recall times before I was married that I would be ready to bolt when things got tough and had absolutely nothing stopping me if that is what I chose to do. Once I met and married my husband, things changed. Do I still feel like bolting when things get tough or unpleasant, or aren't going "my way", sure I do! But I don't, and I never will because I made a commitment to him, to our marriage and I honor that. We both made that commitment and it really puts us in a "safe place" with each other. That is the same for a business relationship, project, friendship etc. Once you clearly make the commitment, there is no turning back or flipping sides so to speak. That creates a trust for yourself and anyone else who may be tied to your commitment, be it team members, coworkers, children, spouses, etc.
Commitment is what gets you up in the morning and keeps you up late at night to finish that project you are so excited about, it is what causes you to think twice about eating that twinkie instead of your healthy snack, it is what gets you to walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator, causes you to stay plugged in to learn that darn "system" that is giving you headaches because it is so confusing at times.
#3 Belief is so important. You must have belief in yourself, belief in what you are doing, and belief that you absolutely will achieve the goal. Without belief, you will constantly be second guessing your decision and commitment. Lack of belief gives you that open back door to slip out of if things get tough and you don't think you can do it ANYMORE! "This doesn't work for me", "I can't do that! I am too busy, too tired, too poor, too fat, too thin, too scared, too dumb...whatever excuse you can possibly come it with at the time. Well guess what, CAN'T LIVES ON WON'T STREET! That word doesn't even exist when you have the belief. You will be unstoppable, and will be saying instead, "how can I make that happen", "how can we make this work"?
#4 Action, last but far from least. You must take action! You can have all the key elements in place, but without action, they are simply empty, thoughts and words. This is where I think people really get stuck. Action is by far THE SCARIEST thing of all! Once you take action, stay crystal clear on the path ahead, so that one foot stays in front of the other at all times or you will become frozen in time. Action is going after the goal like a heat seeking missile.
Imagine, for a moment, you have always wanted to go sky diving and finally you are in the plane, geared up with your parachute, checked, double and triple checked and you have made that decision to jump, and take action! You are now out of the plane, arms and legs spread out like a flying squirrel and you decide, never mind, I don't believe I can do this, so I quit.
Yikes!!! guess what? It is too late, you can't quit or you will die! Extreme? Perhaps, but I simply want to make a point, that decision, commitment and belief must be up front, unbending, no turning back attitudes towards your action, or your dreams, goals and desires WILL die. There is nothing more tragic than that in my opinion. Some of the most frustrating words I hear out of people is "I wish I had done this" or "In my dreams perhaps, but I will NEVER actually have that, great relationship, beautiful body, dream house, opportunity to travel, freedom, etc.
If you believe it, you can achieve it! What is "IT" you ask? SUCCESS!!! That is what "IT" is and IT is YOURS for the taking, what you consider success, is just a Decision, Commitment, and Action away.
I celebrate in your success!

You Are Creation of Your Own Environment
By Margaret Staniucha
The mind reflects what its environment feed is just as the body reflects the food you feed it. Have you ever thought what kind of person you would be had you been reared in some foreign country instead of that you are living now? What kind of food would you like? Would you preferences for clothing be the same? What kind of work would you be doing?
You can't, of course answer all these questions. But chances are you would be materially different person had you grown up in a different country. Why? Because you would be influenced by a different environment.
As a saying goes: "You are a product of your environment". Mark it well. Environment shape us, makes us think the way we do. Try to name just one habit or one mannerism you have which you did not pick up from other people. Relatively minor things, like the way we walk, the way we talk, hold a cup; our preferences for music, literature, entertainment and clothing - all seem in very large part from environment.
More important, the size of your thinking, your goals, your attitudes, and your very personality is formed by your environment. Prolonged association with negative people makes us think negatively; close contact with petty individuals develops petty habits in us. On the bright side, companionship with people with big ideas raises the level of our thinking; close contact with ambitious people give us ambitions.
Experts agree that the person you are today, your personality, ambitions, present status in life, are largely the results of you psychological environment. And experts agree also that the person you will be in one, five, ten, twenty years from now depends almost entirely on you future environment. You will change over the months and years. This we know. But how you will change depends on your future environment, the mind food you feed yourself.
What can we do to make our future environment pay off in satisfaction and prosperity?
We can learn step by step to achieve what we want no matter what was environment we grew up with. If you ever had a feeling that you don't belong to environment you're live in and many times you have found yourself daydreaming; this is the feeling you should hold on to because that feeling, that burning desire will take you to the destination you truly want.

Are You Living Or Just Existing?
By Tim Connor
Life for some is a daily adventure filled with gratitude, laughter, fun, achievement and embracing each moment to the fullest. Life for others can best be described as filled with fear, uncertainty, boredom or aimlessness. I've been in both places; looking forward to and anticipating with passion the next minute and wishing the day would come to an end so I could hide between the covers in sleep. What's the difference between these two very different groups of people? Oh, and of course you could spend your time somewhere in the middle of these two mental states.
Let's start with the group that just exists from day to day.
This doesn't mean to imply that these people are not productive, busy or have a lot on their plates. The question is, is what is on their plates or fills their time rewarding, nourishing or giving them wonderful positive memories of the days gone by. Existing is just that - taking one day at a time hoping that some day soon things will be better or different. These people tend to live with an aimlessness that never seems to give them any satisfaction or feelings of fulfillment. There is work to do, errands to run, meals to cook, meetings to attend or projects to complete. I'm not implying that these are necessarily bad or negative things, only that they may not be giving you the pleasure, satisfaction or joy that you want or deserve.
Life is for living, not existing. So just exactly what does living mean? Thousands, if not millions of books have been written in every area of living - spiritual, physical, mental, relationships, career and financial that in one way or another try to help people live life to the fullest. If this material is available to each of us why would someone spend another day existing and not living?
Living is many things but it's been my experience that the people who really live are not just busy but busy doing things that;
-help others
-leave a positive legacy
-have satisfying relationships that are healthy and nourishing
-give back of themselves and their time and resources
-are other rather than self centered
-are their dreams and are moving towards them
-they are passionate about
-give them a sense of satisfaction
-are not just rote daily activities that lead to more of the same day in and day out
Work is necessary and work is good. Things need to get done and sometimes on a schedule but I ask you is your work satisfying or are you finding your joy somewhere else?
Relationships with others; family and friends, are vital but if they are not adding to your sense of joy why are you still in them?
Money is a vital resource for living but is money your end goal or what or how you can use it to give you peace and happiness?
I have had periods of my life when I felt totally lost and wondered what the next minute or day would bring. I waited and waited. You guessed it, nothing came from my waiting. I have also had periods where I felt true inner peace knowing that this day was special and a gift and that no matter what I did or didn't do, it didn't matter, I was glad to be alive.
Are you existing day by day, waiting or are you living each day, each life experience to the fullest?
