What Are the Keys to Nine Keys to Susan Boyle's Success

What Are the Keys to Nine Keys to Susan Boyle's Success
By Wendy Stenberg-Tendys
The whole world wants to know what the keys are to Susan Boyle's success. Here are nine listed for you:

Passion

With the judges and audience openly snickering and rolling their eyes, nothing daunted Susan Boyle, when she admitted "I'm trying to be a professional singer". She was passionate about what she was headed for. To have any form of success you have to be passionate about where you want to be in five years time.

Ability to Accept Risk

Standing vulnerable and alone before thousands, what would you have done when the judges and the audience were openly antagonistic towards you. Would you have had the strength to take the risk continue on and sing? Or would your vocal cords have shut down with fear and humiliation and stage-fright? When asked how she felt right then, Susan replied "You have to go on, don't you"?

High Self-Esteem

Susan has a candid understanding of her talents, without being either arrogant or egotistical. Susan is a down to earth person, coming from the poorest region of Scotland. People have never given her an opportunity up until now. Susan however, had no self-doubt - the major destroyer of a thousand dreams. "I'm going to rock that audience", she said in a semi-joking voice before setting out on that long walk to center stage.

Persistence

Susan is almost 48 years old. Do you have the persistence to hang onto a dream that long? Susan's voice wasn't developed in just the last few years.

Discipline

You will get nowhere without self-imposed discipline. To ascend the dizzy heights of success you must have the discipline to follow through, no matter what is thrown at you. Susan did what she needed to do, even when it would have been easier to give up. She had the willpower to compel herself onwards. Self-discipline is never an easy thing, even for the most successful of people.

Non-egotistical

No one likes to be around a person, who is full of their own ego, no matter how good they are. The judges from Britain's Got Talent' have decided they will not give Susan a make-over yet. The frumpy, unemployed, volunteer church worker, could easily be your neighbor. She is however, comfortable with herself.

Patience

Rome wasn't built in a day. The well worn cliches go on and on. Yet they are so true. It took Susan almost 48 years to arrive at overnight stardom. She had the patience to keep going, no matter what was thrown against her.

Focus

"Now I'll get focused, (for the next part of the reality talent show)," Susan says. Unless you are able to remain focused and not permit yourself to be side-tracked, you will never see your dreams come a reality.

Talent

And of course Susan has great talent. The ability to naturally do something extraordinary. You need to recognize where your talents lie.

Susan's dreams finally came true. So can yours, if you will only Have Discipline, Persevere, be Patient, never give up and don't be afraid to see yourself the way others see you. There is always something more you can learn.

Making Excuses is Like Wearing Filthy Underwear
By Kevin Ngo
Before I explain why making excuses is like wearing filthy underwear, let me first show you how to accomplish your goals. Here are the basic steps of how to achieve any goal you want. Are you ready?

How to Achieve Goals:

1. Figure out, in detail, what you want and why you want it.

2. Create a plan to get it.

3. Go out and get it.

Am I missing something? Pretty simple isn't it? Now all you have to do is take Nike's advice and Do It! If it's so simple, how come so many people never achieve any worthwhile goals they set for themselves? Here's why.

Instead of goals, here's what most people set: Excuses.

1. I don't know what I want.

2. I don't know what to do.

3. I know what to do but don't know how to do it.

Is this you? If it is, you need to stop using these excuses. They've been used so many times by so many people you're bound to get something nasty if you keep using them. They're like filthy underwear. You wouldn't wear someone else's dirty filthy underwear would you? If the answer is no, then the next time you're about to use a goal killing excuse, know that you're using someone's dirty, stinky, filthy underwear.

Whenever you think of the word "ex-cu-ses", replace that with "it-kills-us". How many dreams have gone to waste because of these "valid" reasons people come up with about why they can't do something. Too many people end up living an unfulfilled life because all they do is reuse the same dirty filthy underwear. Excuses are dream killers. You make a decision to stop using them.

If you want something, go out and get it. If you just sit there and come up with excuse after excuse, then just forget about the goal. You don't want it badly enough. You may think you do, but you don't.

Try this, have a friend who's bigger and stronger than you and tell him to hold your head under water for as long as he can. See how hard you'll push and pull yourself to get that breath of air. If you can have the same desire towards your goals, you'll find ways to achieve them.

If you want to achieve your goals, just do know precisely what you want, create a plan, and keep taking action until you obtain your goals. Goal setting is easy, anyone could do it. It's the following through and accomplishing part that stump most people. If you're going to come up with excuses anyway, at least come up with some originally ones no has ever heard about. Chances are, however, there aren't any new excuses.

You have to realize that making excuses is just a way of chickening out on your goals. If you keep doing that for the rest of you life, you will just end up like an old, useless, filthy pair of underwear. Don't let that happen to you.

What Are the Secrets to Success?
By Bryan Appleton
Almost anyone that you ask will say that they would like to live a successful life. But not nearly as many will state that their life IS a success. Why is that and what can you do differently?

First of all, the definition of the word can be very broad. For some people, success is all about money. For others, it is about happiness and doing what they love as well as achieving their goals. There are certain traits or characteristics that you absolutely need in order to make these things happen for YOU. Develop these traits, and you can almost guarantee yourself success down the road!

WHAT ARE THESE TRAITS?

1. Faith. You have to have faith in yourself and that you will be able to accomplish whatever it is that you want to. And you also have to have faith if you want others to get behind you as well.

2. Persistence. Don't give up at the first signs that things may not be working out for you. Many times it will seem that way even when you are on the right track. Keep moving forward towards what you want.

3. Desire. A dream without desire is really nothing more than a wish. And if you do not have the desire to make your dreams become your reality, they probably won't!

Develop these traits and keep working towards the success that you want. It can happen, although it rarely happens overnight. You have to work at it and persist no matter what may happen!

Positive Deviance - Points to Ponder
By Fazrul Ismail
In his article, Mr Lambe explains about Positive Deviance (PD) - a concept I started to know when I was in Malaysia - told by Dr Ridhwan Fontaine. It is interesting concept and I believe it is not something that we should throw that away without contemplating and pondering the real cause behind this great idea. PD is not only applied in business environment, but it can be used in any organization or country. Instead of famous 'best practice' concept in industries, I would prefer this PD to be researched and applied - individually and in bigger group.

I quote from the web:

Positive deviance is a concept that emerged in the field of development aid during the 1960s, and it found its initial expression among nutrition experts who wanted to find out why the children of some families were much healthier than others in a given village though they were subjected to the same poverty and the same harsh environment. Discovering what those families were doing to achieve better nutrition and health promised to be a pathway for finding sustainable solutions for malnutrition that were native to the context where they could be applied. However, it wasn't until the 1990s that the concept was subjected to intensive field research.

From the excerpt above, here I put several points to ponder:

1) According to PIES model, should PD be analyzed using physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual aspect? How it will explain about the real PD and relevance in any organization or group to improve their performance? Any objective of the group is acceptable in PD?

2) How positive will be considered as PD? Is is worth and acceptable to accept PD for those who do something bad? How bad is bad? This is talking especially in the contact of non-PIES (physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual) way of perceiving world and truth.

3) What is the extended research that has been done to understand PD in different locality and how it can be practical in most of the time and place in the world?

PD is not something alien, but we need to make it close to our heart.
