Lowongan Profesi Ahli Gizi, Dibutuhkan Tapi Tersingkirkan

Ketertarikan Marzuki pada profesi ini adalah berkat presentasi seorang kakak kelasnya tentang Akademi Kesehatan Lingkungan saat masih duduk di bangku SMU.
Setelah selesai menempuh pendidikan akademi, Marzuki pun memperoleh gelar sarjana strata 1 di jurusan Teknologi Pangan dan Gizi Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB). Selanjutnya, gelar S2 didapat dari Universitas Brawijaya.
Saat ini Marzuki lebih banyak beraktivitas sebagai staf pengajar di Akademi Gizi Jakarta. Sebelumnya, ia juga sempat bekerja untuk membantu pemrosesan data di sebuah lembaga asing. Saat ini Marzuki juga menjadi ahli gizi di Mead Johnson. Selama menekuni lowongan profesi ini, tak ayal Marzuki mengalami masa-masa suka dan duka. Yang menyenangkan, begitu lulus Marzuki bisa langsung bekerja. Selain itu, ilmu gizi yang dimilikinya dapat diterapkan pada kehidupan sehari-hari. ''Ketika orang tua sakit, saya sendiri yang menyusun menunya,'' katanya.
Sedangkan rasa duka muncul karena tugasnya terkadang tidak sesuai dengan deskripsi lowongan kerja sebagai seorang ahli gizi. Baginya, lowongan profesi ini memiliki tantangan tersendiri. ''Apalagi menjelang era globalisasi, lowongan persaingan akan terjadi karena bakal hadir ahli gizi asing yang akan memasuki pasar lowongan dalam negeri,'' ujarnya. Sebagai seorang staf pengajar, Marzuki wajib mengetahui perkembangan ilmu yang digelutinya. Terlebih, bila ia akan menjalin kerja sama dengan orang lain. ''Ini karena mereka melihat kemampuan dan kredibilitas kita,'' lanjut pria yang kerap mengisi acara di sejumlah media massa ini.
Hardinsyah, ketua bidang pendidikan Persatuan Ahli Gizi Indonesia (Persagi), menyebutkan saat ini setidaknya ada 5.000 ahli gizi yang masuk dalam keanggotaan Persagi. Menurut pria yang menempuh pendidikan ahli gizi dan gelar S2 di IPB pada 1982 dan 1987 ini, tugas seorang ahli gizi adalah memberikan layanan dan aturan makan dengan tujuan untuk pencegahan penyakit atau terapi penyembuhan. Biasanya, untuk tujuan pencegahan, para pasien dirujuk oleh dokter. Setelah itu barulah ahli gizi memberikan konsultasi pada pasien sesuai dengan kepentingan kesehatannya.
Kendati memegang peran penting, Hardinsyah menilai lowongan profesinya penuh tantangan terutama dalam hal pengakuan dari pemerintah. Namun, sekitar tiga hingga empat tahun lalu, pemerintah mulai mengakui keberadaan profesi ahli gizi. Hanya saja khusus untuk ahli gizi medik, peraih gelar doktor di University of Queensland, Australia, ini mengakui mereka belum memperoleh pengakuan dari pihak Ikatan Dokter Indonesia (IDI).
Tantangan lain adalah bagi para ahli gizi yang bekerja di rumah sakit. Hardinsyah menilai, mereka boleh dibilang agak tersingkir. Pasalnya, para ahli gizi yang telah memperoleh gelar magister sekalipun tidak mendapatkan posisi yang selayaknya.
Hal lain yang juga memprihatinkan Hardinsyah adalah kualitas para ahli gizi. Di tengah persaingan global, ada tuntutan agar mampu berbahasa asing dengan baik khususnya bahasa Inggris. Sayangnya, ia belum melihat ada perguruan tinggi yang mewajibkan mata kuliah bahasa Inggris bagi para calon ahli gizi, baik di tingkat diploma hingga S1. ''Kualitas lulusan ditentukan oleh tiap individu yang memang berniat mempelajari sendiri bahasa Inggris,'' katanya.
Soal penghasilan, Marzuki menilai ini amat bergantung pada kemampuan sang ahli gizi. Namun, ia enggan merinci jumlah rupiah yang diterimanya. Sedangkan Hardinsyah menyebutkan penghasilan yang diperoleh ahli gizi juga berbeda tergantung pada kemampuan dan instansi tempatnya bernaung. Ia memperkirakan, angkanya berkisar Rp 600 ribu hingga Rp 3 juta. ***
