Inspired Goals - Do YOU Have What it Takes?

Inspired Goals - Do YOU Have What it Takes?
By Bryan Appleton
Goals are a funny thing. If you have them and work hard to achieve them, they tend to become your reality and not just a dream anymore. But, very few people actually set a goal and follow it through until its fulfillment. Why is this and is there something that you can do differently?

There are many different ways that you can approach a goal that you may have. Many people look for the quick fix and this usually does not happen. So, they tend to give up very easily. Also, many people have lazy goals in their life. Simply paying the bills and just getting by is a common theme.

You need to have goals that inspire and motivate you. Without the inspiration and motivation driving you closer to achieving your goal, it is far too easy to get lazy or to just give up.

HOW DO YOU CREATE INSPIRED GOALS?

Tap into the things that get you emotional. Tap into the things that you are passionate about. If you can get yourself excited at just the mere thought of accomplishing something, then you are on the right track. For example, if cars were something that you are passionate about, any goal that you have related to cars would be something that could keep you motivated and ready to take action.

Whatever it is, it has to get you excited. It has to be something that keeps you awake at night and gets you up early. And it has to be something that will get you out of your comfort zones.

Getting to Know the Real You in Achieving Your Career Goals
By Amy Twain
Do you know what your career goals are? This is perhaps the most often asked question and the most imperative. You'll be surprised that even though this is just a simple question, very few can really answer it with conviction. Interestingly, several career individuals in the workforce actually spend too much time with working toward their ambitions and planning with career goals that they barely could even identify. Usually at the beginning of a profession, some things do not seem to be so much of a big deal; as a matter of fact, things seem to be easy-breezy and free-flowing.

Mostly, it is because the job is new, so most individuals find the tasks or assignments to be challenging. Not to mention that employees appreciate at least having a job most especially nowadays in times of economic decline. During this phase in our careers, there are some, if not several of us getting promoted; managers and employers typically keep track of the employees' work performances and progress. But then again, do we even know or recognize our definitive objective? As time goes by and the years come to pass, we also grow old, and politics and relationships and our networks leverage us more.

Now, promotions become less and less, and pressure, responsibilities and expectations shoot up not just at work, but also at home. Your career goals will be more ever-changing and evolving over time. This time, your being worldly-wise takes over and take note that as you mature and develop personally and you have this overall awareness about life, don't be surprised that you are now prone to changing your mind and as often. Okay now, since we're at it, how could we now go about in finding and unearthing our true career goals? Well, here goes...1. Know your interests well; give some time to discover your real interests regarding work preferences.

Remember back in time what are those trainings or courses you truly enjoyed doing and pursuing and what are those careers or professions you even considered being a part of. 2. Establish and enhance those skills to attain your career goals. Your skills and abilities could stem from your experiences in school and work experiences as well. Develop a list or inventory all those skills you presently possess and even those skills or talents you wish you have. 3. Realize once and for all what is it really you want. By knowing more about yourself will give you an idea what are those work and professional options which best suit your values, abilities and proficiencies.

4. Discover and delve various fields when it comes to setting career goals. I'm sure it's a vast sea of choices, so don't just limit yourself to only one but also set your sights on the different possibilities of having many alternatives. 5. Then, set your goals and targets. You can then summarize the outcome of your own self-analysis in a statement or a concised list that could serve as a source of information to look for employers.

8 Easy Steps to Setting Effective Goals
By Susan Andrewes
How many times have you had a dream or wanted to achieve a personal or professional goal but failed at the first hurdle? Maybe you put it off, or felt it was too difficult after all. Maybe your goal was simply too overwhelming to even know where to begin. Maybe you even felt that achieving your goal would compromise other areas of your life too much to make it worth it. Too often, the goals we set let us down right from the very start. By following the 8 simple principles below, you can be sure of getting off to a much better start and therefore of being much more likely to actually be successful in achieving your goals and dreams.

To be effective, goals must be:

1. Congruent with your values
For example, your goal might be to bring in a higher income for the sake of your family, but by working long hours at the office to do so, you might end up spending less and less time at home and therefore sabotaging the very family values you considered to be so important. If your goals do not match your values, they will not be achieved, nor will they serve your overall objectives.

2. Written down
A goal that is not written down is simply a dream or a fantasy. Having written goals will provide focus and allow your subconscious mind to find ways of achieving them. You may like to make a list and keep it at your office or on your fridge, or write down your goal on a small piece of card to keep in your wallet or on your desk in front of you. Or you may like to find a photo or create a collage to place on your wall. You are much more likely to achieve a goal that is written down.

Reviewed regularly
To achieve your goals you must review them every day. By keeping your goal close to hand, your subconscious mind will form a habit of seeking ways to achieve it. Take a minute to go over it. Think about the benefits of achieving your goal. Don't forget to update your goals. Priorities change and our goals change with them. This will keep you moving forward.

4. Specific
You should be able to describe your goal in one very clear and specific sentence. 'I want to change jobs' is too vague. Make it more concrete, for example 'I want a job where I am earning € 50,000 a year'. This is a much more inspiring and motivational goal.

5. Framed in the positive
Instead of saying what you don't want, e.g. 'I want to give up smoking' or 'I want to stop feeling nervous when I give presentations', or 'I want to lose weight', state your goals in the positive e.g. 'I want to enjoy being healthy' or 'I want to feel confident when giving presentations' or 'I want to reach my target weight of 60 kg by July 1st'. You will get what your subconscious mind focuses on. By focusing on the positive, you are much more likely to move forward and achieve your goals.
You can take this one step further by putting your goals in the present tense, e.g. 'I am a great presenter'. This gives your goals life and vibrancy.

6. Set within a time frame
To achieve your goals, you need to feel a sense of urgency. Your goals therefore need a time frame. A goal without a date is a dream. If you don't set a date, there is nothing to stop you from putting off your goal again and again until 'the time is right'. There is never a better time to start achieving your goals. Set a deadline, and keep to it!

7. Challenging
Make sure you set challenging goals that stretch you by taking you outside of your comfort zone. If you set goals which are too easy, you are likely to lose interest, become bored and give up. Dare yourself to dream big!

8. Achievable
While setting goals that are challenging, don't be tempted to make them unrealistic. Only set goals which you know are within your ability to achieve, with a little motivation and effort of course! This might mean initially setting manageable, bite-sized goals which will boost your confidence. Once you gain momentum, you will be inspired to take on greater and greater challenges!

Goal Setting Success - If She Could Do it - You Can Too
By Kourosh Kavian
I could talk in length about my personal experience of goal setting success. I know that setting and achieving goals is a tool that facilitates the realization of my main life goal - and step by step - everything on my entire life goal list.

Children are generally excellent at setting and achieving their goals. If they haven´t been taught to quench their dreams, they will usually apply any method they can to get what they want. And as all parents know, kids usually want a great deal of things in life. Parents might not always agree that the children´s goals and desires are necessary, but let´s leave that out for now and focus on the process of goal setting success.

The Art of Goal Setting Success

We have all seen examples of athletes sharing their powerful goals with the world after they have reached them. And we are impressed. And we think it´s for them only. And it seems too hard etc. But setting and achieving goals can be applied by anybody in any situation under any circumstances. That is what I want to describe here.

My two animal-loving children are both very fond of cats, especially my daughter. Initially she was content with other people´s cats, reading books about them and having lots of toys and books on that theme.

Gradually it dawned on her that it would be possible to own a cat. She had defined her dream.

We did not rush out to get her one right away, because we wanted to be sure that she was serious and responsible enough. We represented "the rest of the world who couldn´t care less about your dream". (In fact we did care, but the world usually does not bother about your dreams. That is why YOU have to be 100% sure yourself, to resist all surrounding negativity.)

So she had defined her goal; to have a cat. That was the first step in the goal setting success. What she did next was spontaneous and intuitive, and it reinforced her dedication to achieving her goal: She put her dream on paper! She drew and painted pictures of cats, collected cute pictures and post cards and posted these around the house where she could see them at all times. She was obsessed with her life goal of owning a cat. She visualized it, thought of possible names, thought out a plan on what to do with the cat when we went on vacation etc. She used all her senses in the process. She used to describe the softness of its fur and how happy she felt when she cuddled her cat. If we had a doubt, she had a solution!

She also conducted serious research and learned everything about cats from the books she could get hold out. We encouraged her to become an expert on the topic of her life goal. Just like athletes or successful businessmen do. This step of the goal setting success is "become an expert on your goal".

Then the persuasion part took over. She needed us, her parents, on her side and used all the arguments she could think of. The one that finally conquered us was "I cannot live without a cat!"

The question is; Can YOU live without setting and achieving YOUR life goal, without manifesting your heart´s true desire?

When we took her to buy the kitten, she carefully looked at all of them before choosing the right one. That was the kitten who looked exactly the way my daughter had visualized it. And we knew too, because we had seen her pictures all over our house for months and months...

And since then, the two of them have had the closest bond imaginable between them; a much longed for kitten and its loving owner, my adorable daughter. Sometimes she whispers to it: "I loved you even before I had you!"

That´s the power of goal setting success! I hope that you are encouraged to apply the principles to big and small goals in your life. Take out your life goal list and get started right away. Like my daughter said: "The day my dream became a reality I KNEW that anything in life is possible if I just want it hard enough!"

A final note. My daughter was five years old when she was setting and achieving the goal I have described. She reached her goal on her 6th birthday. I am convinced that you can manifest any life goal too.
